xxxiv. stanley cup finals games one & two

Em wakes up to the sound of David's alarm going off. She sits up and sees David turning off the alarm.

"Good morning. How'd my babies sleep?" he asks, kissing her forehead.

"Fine. I know I'm not gonna be getting much sleep in the 3rd trimester so I'm taking advantage of it right now," she replies.

"Well you're 3 days away from hitting 20 weeks," he informs her.

"I know. It's crazy how quick this pregnancy is going. Before I know it, I'm gonna be going into labor," she replies, thinking about how quickly time is flying.

"Well hopefully not anytime soon," he adds.

"Alright, go get ready while I make you breakfast," she says.

"Aye, aye, captain," he jokes, causing her to smack his arm playfully.

He gets up from the bed and starts getting ready as she heads to the kitchen to make him a quick breakfast.

It takes her 10 minutes to make breakfast and she places the plate on the island table. He comes out of the room and heads over to the kitchen. He kisses her cheek before sitting down to eat breakfast. They talk about pre-game skate and Game 1 of the Cup Finals later on that night.

"Are you nervous?" Em asks him.

"Honestly, yes. This is the biggest test of my life so far. Playing for the cup is a dream come true and winning the cup is all I've ever wanted to do my entire life," he answers truthfully.

"I know exactly how you feel. The first time I ever qualified for Nationals, I was so nervous. I placed every time but I never won first place, whether it was group dances, duets, or solos. However, I still felt so accomplished for just being there a lot and placing," she explains.

"I'm sorry you never won at Nationals," he says, squeezing her hand.

"Don't be. I still ended up getting a full scholarship to Julliard, so I turned out very alright," she smiles reassuringly.

They finish eating breakfast and then Em places the plates into the sink. David gets up and grabs his things.

"Alright, bye baby. I'll see you after skate," he smiles, kissing her softly.

"Alright baby. Drive safe. I love you," she smiles back.

He leaves the condo and Em starts cleaning a little bit. She watches SportsCenter for a bit and sees the highlights from all the action the day prior. She then changes into a long-sleeved PrettyLittleThing oversized shirt and biker shorts to film a YouTube video.

"Hey guys, welcome back to my channel. My name is Emely and today I'm gonna be updating you guys on my pregnancy and my life recently. I know you guys said that you want David in the videos, but David is currently at practice. Anyway, I'm currently 19 weeks and 4 days. So, in 3 days I'll be officially 20 weeks, which is halfway through my pregnancy. The pregnancy has been going great so far. My baby's been developing well so far and is right on track for how it should be developing. On Friday I have my mid-pregnancy checkup and I'll have the mid-pregnancy ultrasound taken during the visit. I already told my doctor to not tell us the gender and to instead put it in an envelope. My friend is planning the gender reveal party and will reveal the gender at the party, since I'll be giving the envelope to her."

"Also, if you're not following me on Snap or IG, then you don't know that David and I just bought a house. We got the keys on the 24th, but we won't be moving in for a while. The previous owners won't be moving out til the end of the month and because David is playing in the Stanley Cup Finals, we won't be able to move until after the Finals are over. So we're busy trying to buy tons of things for the new house and we're planning a nursery for the baby. Also, I will be doing a video shooting the gender reveal party, so you guys will be able to see that. I'm planning to do the same thing later on when I have my baby shower."
