The Prank Aftermath

After the "Whomping Willow Incident' the other three didn't speak to Sirius for two weeks and Sirius avoided them for the next two or so.

He was debating whether or not to go to the Shrieking Shack on the next full moon when Peter showed up. "You gotta come!"

"What? What happened?!" Sirius asked anxiously as he followed Peter to the Willow.

"It's Moony! We can't calm him down! Prongs tried to communicate with him and all he got was my pack isn't complete. Prongs realized Moony needed all of us so he sent me to fetch you!" Peter's eyes were wide.

Sirius' eyes widened too. Two weeks of the silent treatment had made him realize how wrong his 'prank' had been and feel guilty enough to avoid his friends.

Did Remus still wanted him around after what he had done to him?

The issue wasn't addressed until the next morning when all four boys lay in the Shrieking Shack together.

Sirius still sat in a corner, wondering how to bring it up. Finally, he gathered his courage.

"Remus, I know I was a real git that... night. And I know, sorry isn't going to cut it. I... Godric I was never great at expressing my feelings..."

As Sirius ran his hand through his hair nervously, Remus went over to him and gave him a hug.

James and Peter soon joined them, turning it to a bone-crushing group hug.

James spoke first. "If Moons can forgive you, so can we, but I swear to Merlin if you ever do something like that again I'll kill you."

Sirius smiled weakly. "I'd probably kill myself first. Remus, I'm sorry."

Remus sighed. "I felt betrayed and furious at first, but I suppose no harm was really done. Promise me that'll never happen again."

"I solemnly swear."

For a second they were silent, and Sirius wondered if it hadn't been the right moment.

Then they all burst out laughing and Sirius just knew he'd been forgiven.

I guess I'm lucky that I'm part of the pack.
