WHAT IF THE MORE YOU RESISTED WEREWOLF TRANSFORMATION, THE MORE IT HURT

No, but think about it. Remus hated what he was, and obviously would try to resist transforming, hoping that one day he would succeed.

Greyback, a.k.a. the bastard of a man who bit Remus in the first place, on the other hand, would relish in the opportunity to help his master and fully embrace it. It would explain why he never once made a big deal of transforming.

(I actually hope this isn't true, because Greyback deserves all the pain coming his way.)

Now all I can imagine is a young Sirius Black approaching Remus after a transformation and asking him about it because he has unwillingly listened to Greyback crow about his 'unique weapon' time and time again until he was sick to the stomach. They would all realize it hurt so badly because Remus always tried resisting.

And then the rest of the Marauders would try again and again to get Remus to accept the werewolf so he wouldn't go through so much pain every full moon.

Sadly, they never succeeded.

Bonus: What if the first hint the other Marauders got to Remus being a werewolf was that he was Lyall Lupin's son.

And Sirius remembered when he was very young, Greyback came back to them for shelter one night with his mouth full of blood and saying, "I finally got my revenge against that Lupin and his anti-werewolf banter."

For a while they weren't sure until they realized there was no way Remus or his mother would get ill that often.
