"You lied to me! I trusted you!"

Maya has her ears cupped with her hands as the screams grow louder and louder. She was crying her eyes out and her sister's not beside her to protect her.

"I want you out of this house right now!"

She can hear her mother's cries as she watches her mom being dragged outside the house. She was a little kid so she barely knew what was happening.

"No, Elliot, please. My daughters need me." Her mother was on her knees, begging for her children but her father wasn't having it.

"I was the one who gave then food, shelter, clothes, and fucking education! You won't get them." Elliot seethed through his teeth. The anger was present in his eyes.

"Please, Elliot-"

"Get the fuck out of my house!" Her father slammed the door and she can still hear her mother banging through the other side, desperate to get in.

Elliot walked back inside and immediately saw the eight-year old Maya sittng behind the bookcase. "Your mom will no longer stay here with us, okay? She did a very bad thing."

"What bad thing?" Maya lowly asked.

"A very very bad thing."

Calum's POV

Another day had passed and June hasn't woken up. No news from the other room, as well. The others had gone home so it was only me that was left.

My mom flew in this morning, but Ellie wasn't able to due to work, apparently, but Ashton said she'll be here tonight.

"Luke went home?" Mom asked as she prepped some food for us to eat for lunch.

I nodded, "Yeah, he has this big exam coming up." Ashton and Ethan are staying in the other room so if anyone wakes up, one of us will tell the other right away.

"Mom?"

"Yeah, honey?"

"Do you believe in fate?" I never did but with June possibly being Malia, that changes a lot of things.

Mom smiled before answering, "Why do you ask? Do you think you meeting June was fate?"

"Yeah." Mom smiled at me and looked at June, who was still soundly sleeping. Why isn't she waking up yet?!

The door suddenly opened and and Ashton appeared. "She's awake." Finally.

--

We've all been staring at each other for God knows how long now and no one dared to speak.

She was holding onto Ethan like her life depended on him and she was eyeing me sternly, like she's trying to rack her brain of any memory of me.

I was the first one to break the ice. "D-do you recognize me?" Her head nodded slowly and my eyes furrowed in confusion.

How can she recognize me when I've never even met her?

"Calum."

"Malia?" I tried to confirm but she shook her head, "No. Maya."

"How did you know me?"

"Malia."

Malia must've mentioned and showed a picture of me. Maybe that's why she recognized me. "What's the last thing you remember?"

"The fire. Dad. The truck-"

"The truck?" Ashton chimed in.

She, Maya, nodded, "The truck was the last thing I remember before waking up here seeing all of you." Her hands wrapped around the blanket on her bed and she continued, "I was running away from my dad. I didn't have anywhere to go but the window, so I jumped."
