A week after I propose to Nia, we are set to be married in the beach infront of Nia's barn house on a Sunday.
" Are you sure? I mean, you want to get married in the church right?"
" Mahal, I want a beach wedding."
I look at her, she's radiant as always but, weak. She barely move because minimal movements make her tired.
" Rj, how's Maine?"
" I havent seen her for a while. Nag bakasyon yata with her family somewhere dito din sa south."
We are staying at the Barn house now for a week already.
" When is your premier night?"
" five days from now."
" Uhm.."
" Gusto kitang isama. Kaya mo na ba? "
" I dont think I can. "
" Sayang. Di bale, pag nakapanganak kana, and you get well, I can take you to every premiere night ng mga movie na gagawin ko."
" Maybe you can go with Maine? I mean, your loveteam right?"
And did I mention how she often mention Maine to me now?
" Hindi ko pa alam. Baka may plano na sya eh."
" Mahal?"
" hmm?"
" Can you invite her here? I want to see Maine."
" Why?"
" Wala lang. I havent thank her yet for helping you."
" Sige subukan ko. Now, rest."
" Puro nga ako rest."
" Kailangan mo yon eh. May tatawagan lang ako ah? magpahinga na muna, mahal ko."
When I came back for Nia after 30 minutes, she's asleep. I watch her and admire her simplicity.
She not as beautiful as Maine but her simplicity and her charm radiates all over the place.
I decided to call Maine for Nia's request. O heard her hesitation at first but agreed still.
Gabi na ng dumating sya. It was raining hard outside. Dinaan lang sya ng family nya galing sa bakasyon.
Nia's face lit up upon seeing her. I left them in the room to chat while I help ate Bing prepare breakfast.
" Gusto mo daw ako makita sabi ni Rj."
" Yes. ☺"
" Kamusta ka?"
" Im okay. How are you? "
" Refreshed! Grabe, ang tagal ko ng hindi nag beach!"
" Are you happy?"
" Yes."
Dead silence.
" Maine.."
" Hmm?"
" Do you still love Rj?"
" Huh?.."
Maine was taken aback. But Nia smiled.
" That was a harmless question. I just want to know.".
" Why?"
" Because I need want to make sure.."
" Of what?".
