A Shock For One

Y/N's pov

We walked through the forest, the others had seemingly just dismissed what happened yesterday.

Even Ruby after some convincing decided to keep my identity secret from everyome until i wanted to release it.

Ruby: Come on guys! If we pick up the pace we can hit the next town before sunset.

Me: If it's still standing

Ruby: Of course it'll be there! This one's supposed to be pretty big.

She looked to the map and tried to pronounce the name of it

Ruby: Hee... gan.. bay... na

Ren: Higanbana. It's a well-protected village with a popular inn.

Nora: Which means... no camping in the rain!

Ruby: See everything's gonna be fine!

She looked to me with a smile making me sigh and nod.

Jaune: You know, we've had alot of ups and downs, but things could be a lot worse. Really thought we'd see more Grimm.

Ren: As did I

Nora: I guess our luck is finally turning around. To Higanbana!

They cheered out the names as i stayed silent, looking behind me i saw black pillars of smoke... odd

Timeskip

We made it to the village as we sat in our room in the Inn. Thinking back to what happened i passed the time by inspecting my gun.

*Flashback start*

Ruby: W-What happened to you?

Me: Why don't you ask Yang?

Ruby: What do you mean? What did she do?

Me: She told me, because i refused to go to Atlas and become a cybernetic freak, that she would leave me... and she did

Ruby's eyes widened as but she ended up hanging her head, a bit later she looked up as i fixed my bandages.

Ruby: What's it like, living like that?

Me: Painful, my semblance would prevent me from speaking if not for it being tied so tightly. Plus, i had a few months before full recovery as well.

Ruby: Then why are you still out here?

Me: To find the woman who did this to me... she used flames, that's all i know

Ruby: That... sounds like Cinder

*flashback end*

Cinder Fall... fitting for her semblance i guess. But that doesn't matter what matters is that i find a way to take her down.

Getting up i walked towards the bathroom, a couple fresh rolls of bandages in hand. I locked the door and stood in front of the mirror.

After placing the fresh rolls down i began taking off the bandages on my hands, seeing their burnt and charred state in a it's horrifying glory

I clenched my hand into a fist and felt the pain run up it making me sigh. Breathing in the gas i unwrapped my face bandages

The skin was still the same, sunken, miss coloured and burnt. It ran up my left eye sadly making me lose most sight it in.

I touched around it and couldn't really feel much... guess that my nerve endings really are damaged.

There was a knock at the door making me turn to it, what's going on?

Nora: Could we have a towel? I- Jaune spilled his drink

Shaking my head as i kept in a chuckle i grabbed a towel, opening the door a bit i handed her a towel making her gasp slightly.

Oh right... it's unwrapped. She quickly took the towel and thanked me before i closed the door.

Looking at my hand again i wondered, why am i not thay affected by it? Maybe it's because it's my body

I began rewrapping the previously bandages areas, letting out a sigh once my face had been wrapped tightly.

Me: This is a pain...

When i had finished i stepped out the bathroom and threw the old bandages away, Nora was looking at me nervously while the others talked.

Nora: That was... i-i mean your hands it's-

Me: Not pleasant, trust me, i know.

Nora: What's it like living like that...?

Me: ...Imagine waking up one day and looking in the mirror only to see a completely different person

Nora: That's... oh jeez

Me: Not the best thing to wake up to, nor is getting those kinds of reactions unless i'm covered

She hung her head in guilt but i put a hand on her shoudler which made her raise her head in confusion

Me: I don't blame you

Nora: Why?

Me: You heard of the mysterious melting of the Vale hospital?

Nora: Yeah... you don't mean...

Me: Humans and Faunas are naturally toxic people... i'm just worse than everyone else

Nora: D-Did you...

Me: Kill them?

She nodded hesitantly making me shake nt head

Me: Not the patients and staff, they were killed by the White Fang

Nora: B-But still you...

Me: Self defence

Nora: Is that how you think about it?

Me: Maybe, there's a chance i'm just lying to you... you'll have to figure that out

Walking away from her i went over to my bed and took off the bullet proof vest. Laying fown i let out a sigh before closing my eyes

I can't imagine what was going through Yang'd head at the time... but if it hurt her like Ruby said then i need to fix things between us
