Chapter 57 Sam’s POV

I was shocked Kellie had said that.

“You girls racing?  Yeah right.” Dillon said.

“Ya wanna put your money where your mouth is?” Emily asked.

I got in Mikey’s car.  The passenger door opened.

“Can I join you?” Mikey asked.

“Sure.” I said, smiling.

“Are we going to win?” he asked.

“There are no bets this time so it doesn’t really matter.”

The red lights turned on, then the yellow.  I turned the key and the engine roared.  The green light came on.

I pressed my foot down.

“PETAL TO THE METAL!  PETAL TO THE METAL!” Mikey yelled.

I laughed at him.

“I’m trying!”

“Try harder Sam.”  I could hear him laughing.

“Just for that I won’t try.” I lifted my foot a little.

“No I’m sorry.  You are trying.”

I shook my head and turned the wheel.

“Lead foot.  Lead foot.”

“I cont concentrate with you talking.”

After a few seconds of silence I couldn’t take it anymore.

“Oh my god, just talk.”

“I thought you couldn’t concentrate Sam.”

“You’re impossible.”

“I know.” I looked at him.  He had his arms crossed over his chest and his eyes were closed.  His smirk made it obvious he was proud of himself.

I turned the next corner.

“Not that I’m a pro or anything but this track seems long.” I said.

“It’s normal sized.”

“Would you open your eyes.” I said more than asked.

“No.  You would like it if I did that.”

I playfully smacked his chest.

“Pay attention to the road.” He scolded.

He was right the next turn was coming up and I should be paying attention.

“I’m am.” I lied.

“Okay.  So you know that we should turn just about now.”

“Yes I do know that.”

Only a few more feet.

“Sure you did.”

“I did!” I said, defending myself.

“Okay baby gurl.”

I saw his hold up his hands in defeat.

“That’s right.  I know what I’m doing.”

He laughed.  “I know you do.”

I turned the third corner.

“You are still behind.”

“Yeah I know.” I said, pressing down harder.

“How fast are you going?”

I looked down at the odometer.

“180.”

“You can go faster.”

“I don’t want to die.  We will stay at this speed.”

“We are fine.”

I glared at him.

“Okay this is a good speed.”

“Yes it is.” I said.

I made the last turn.

“We are almost there!” I said.

“And we won’t be in first.  Or second.  Of even third.”

“We will get there when we get there.”

“We will hopefully be in fourth.  If you hadn’t have stopped we could have been in first.”

“Are you driving?  No I didn’t think so.”

“No need to get snippy.”

“I will if I want.” I said.

“I don’t like you when you are snippy.”

“And I don’t like you when you tell me what to do.”

“I promise I won’t tell you what to do if you don’t yell at me.”

“I don’t yell at you!”

“You just yelled.”

“I did not.” I said.

“You did so.”

I stopped the car.

“No I didn’t.”

We sat in the middle of the track, cars passing by.  I could hear yelling.

“No more yelling?”

“Fine no more yelling.” I crossed my arms.

“Now we can still beat Kellie if you hurry.”

I looked at him.

“I’m kidding.” He said.  “Kellie already finished.”
