It was a Monday morning, kaunti lang ang mga pasyente nila sa ER, at kung meron man, they were mostly kids with fever, or small injuries, they weren't that busy.
Pagpasok ni Ara sa ER kanina, may dinalang batang lalaki, pitong taon na merong injury sa binti.
His knee was speared by a sharp wood and they had to remove it immediately.
After the successful removal the boy was still unconscious.
Umupo muna sandali si Ara sa upuang malapit sa nurses station.
"Dra. Ara, okay ka lang po ba?" tanong ni Cha.
Isa siya sa mga nurse dito na naging kaibigan niya na rin.
"Oo, medyo pagod lang, don't mind me," ani Ara.
Tumango na lamang si Cha at pumunta na sa isang pasyente.
"Dra. Ara, gising na po siya," another nurse informed her, she was talking about the boy with a knee injury.
She immediately rose from her seat and went to him.
"Kamusta?" Ara asked the boy with her calming voice.
"Asan na po yung andito sa paa ko kanina?" he said while pointing at his knee.
"Wala na, inalis na namin," sagot ni Ara.
"Talaga po? Maraming salamat... eh... wala naman po akong pambayad..." anang batang lalaki.
"Okay lang yon, basta ang importante, wala na yung nasa tuhod mo na masakit, at dapat magpaggaling ka na, yun ang pambayad mo, ok?" tanong ni Ara sa bata.
"Sige po," anito tsaka ngumiti.
"Salamat po Dra. Ganda!" sigaw pa ng bata na ikinatawa niya.
Lumapit si Ara sa nurses station.
"Yung expenses ng batang yon, sagot ko na," anito.
"Sige po, ako na po bahala," anang isang nurse at tinanguan naman nito ni Ara bilang pagpapakita ng pagpapasalamat.
"Isesend po ba natin siya sa Private room?" tanong sakanya ng nurse.
He doesn't even have a guardian with him at walang magbabantay sakanya when he's relocated in a private room.
"Dito na muna siya, he'll recover quick and I will sent him in his home," sagot ni Ara.
The ER was quiet, she really prefers taking the morning shifts.
Kasi bukod sa duty niya sa ER, she also do rounds from time to time to check on her patients in their private rooms.
She checked the time.
It's time for her rounds again.
It was already 5pm.
"Magr-rounds lang ako," paalam ni Ara.
There are more than 5 doctors in the ER, and there isn't any emergency so umalis na siya agad para makabalik as soon as possible.
As if on cue, Dr. Li called.
"Dr. Li," bati ni Ara.
"A nurse informed me na magr-rounds ka na raw, can you please do me a favor and check on the same patient kanina? Sorry talaga, I'll do anything," ani Dr. Li.
"Duty ka ba bukas sa ER?" tanong ni Ara.
"Yes, morning shift ako," anito.
"Could we switch? I need it," ani Ara.
"Sige, basta check on my patient, thank you,"
"No problem," anito tsaka binaba na ang telepono.
All her patients were doing okay and since Collin's room was in the fifth floor she visited him last.
She let out a huge breathe before knocking.
You're at work Ara.
"Good afternoon, I'm here to check again," ani Ara tsaka ngumiti. Her vision straight towards Collin, despite doing so, she can sense that his other friends were there, but not Chase.
"So, this will be just a quick checkup," ani Ara.

"Nah," Mark denies.
"Kamusta ka naman?" tanong ni Ten sakanya.
"I'm doing f—" bago pa man masagot ni Ara ang tanong sakanya ni Ten her phone rang.
"Hello Y—"
"Tita Awaaaaa!!!" sigaw ng bata sa kabilang linya.
"Winona, baby, yes, you'll be staying with me next week, aren't you excited?... yes, we'll go to your lolo and play games.... of course not.... yes.... ok? Ok baby, I'm at work eh... be a good girl okay?... love you..." ibinaba na ni Ara ang telepono.
"You were saying?" Ara asked the guys.
"May we ask sino yun?" tanong ni Five.
"That was Winona," tipid na sagot nito.
"Your??"
"My— shit, there's an emergency sa ER," anito noong tumunog ang kanyang emergency phone at mabilis na tumakbo.
