Chapter 3

"What happened?" tanong agad ni Ara pagpasok ng ER.

"Sorry doc, we needed you, kulang na ng doctors, there was a nearby accident, 3 cars were included, tapos madami pong pasahero—"

"It's fine, where are they?" tanong ni Ara sa isang nurse.

She immediately saw a woman crying for help.

"Ma'am, asan po yung masakit?—"

"Yung anak ko, siya po yung unahin niyo.." anang ginang habang tinuturo ang stretcher na nasa harapan niya.

Isang bata na naka neckbrace.

"Meron na pong doktor na bahala sakanya, ako po ang para sainyo, may masakit po ba?" tanong nito.

"Wala naman—" she didn't finished what she said because she puked blood.

She immediately stood up from the stool she was sitting on.

It might be something more severe.

They immediately rushed the woman in the OR.

She was experiencing failure in her abdomen, and she needed to be operated as soon as possible.

The operation lasted not more than 5 hours.

Lumabas na sa OR sa Ara at pumunta na sa kanyang clinic.

She had extra clothes there and a bathroom.

She smelled like blood.

After taking a shower she immediately went again to the ER.

The woman and her son were in a stable condition already and they're just observing them.

Lampas na palang 7pm.

Her shift was done kanina pa, ni hindi niya namalayan because she was in the Operating Room.

Well, that's her job, saving lives is more important than anything as a doctor.

Nagpaalam na siya sa mga kasamahan and timed out.

Kahit naman papaano, she earns a good amount of money para mabuhay siya.

She didn't want to have a house kasi magisa niya lang naman, at pamisan sa bahay siya ng kanyang papa natutulog.

But it was already 9pm, kaya dun na muna siya matutulog sakanyang condo.

This was Ara's life for the past years.

She's already 28, at wala naman siyang pinoproblema.

Her life has been this way ever since she finished her studies.

She was independent, the same process goes on, pagkatapos ng duty niya uuwi siya ng bahay, ipagluluto ang sarili tsaka matutulog.

And after doing so, humiga na siya sa kama.

Chase.... the memory of when she went to Spain, it was still fresh, the pain was still there.

Buti nalang she was invested in her job and at time she forgets the pain.

But seeing him earlier, was weird.

Of course she knows that he's one of the most eligible bachelors in the Philippines now, lahat ng 10 Thorns actually.

They've been successful in different fields.

Chase was a known engineer, not just in the Philippines, but worldwide.

Naalala tuloy nito na pareho sila ng pangarap, to be a Doctor.

Pero si Ara lang ang tumupad dito, but she's happy for Chase.

"Hay Ara, stop thinking about him, he's happy, may girlfriend na ata yon, or even a wife," Ara told herself.

They were both 28, baka nga talaga may asawa't mga anak na yon, and he's happy. Baka nga.

In the midst of her deep thoughts, her phone was beeping so she checked on it.

it was her friend that she in Washington.

Nagkita sila noon sa isang Mall, and it happened to be that they're both Filipinos, so they catch up with each other ever since.

Ye: hey Ara, I know it's late, pero kakarating ko lang dito sa Pilipinas, and I was hoping to have dinner with you tomorrow? Wala lang, just to catch up with you.

She immediately replied to her text.

Reply: of course! Just text me the location and I'll be there.

Tangna! Bakit ba nakita ko si Ara? Chase thoughts.

He was already in his condo and he's in deep thought.

"Bakit ba ako affected?" tanong ni Chase sa sarili.

After niya itong paglaruan ng pangalawang beses? She could've just told him diba? That she doesn't want him anymore. Maiintindihan naman ni Chase, pipilitin niya namang intindihin, pero lumipas ang mga oras eh, she made him feel the love again, pero hindi pala yon totoo.

And from there, Chase was scared of falling in love, he was scared of the feeling, because of what Ara did, it felt like he lost a part of him, the loving Chase was gone, he only loved his family, and no one else.

While Chase was in deep thought, nagising siya mula dito noong nagingay nanaman ang groupchat nila.
