Chapter 52: Never Turn Around

Meanwhile...

Jay: "(sighing) Are you really just going to make this a pain in the ass for us?"

The group that blocks them off from the rest consists of 3 shotguns, 4 strange soldiers, and 5 submachine gun users.

Risa: "You've got anything to say?"

The soldiers are mute.

Isaac: "(cracking neck) No, because they're already dead."

They all assume battle positions.

Yukiko: "D-Did you just reference an anime?"

The soldiers take aim.

Isaac: "Hell yeah."

The heroes assume a defensive stance.

Dominic: "Artist's Wave!"

Dominic gives everyone else a faint light.

Diane: "Thanks for the boost!"

Bullets begin to fly.

Dominic: "(focusing) Just don't let me lose focus!"

The bullets bounce off Isaac as the air around Diane grows hazy.

Dr. LeeAnn: "We'll bring out the Laser Edge when we lower those numbers down a bit."

The bullets don't work on Diane either.

Diane: "Can we leave the offensive to you guys while we protect these ones?"

Jay pulls out his nunchucks and begins to swing them around to defend the bullets.

Jay: "(smirking) Thought you'd never ask."

Risa and Yukiko power slide under a few shotgun blasts.

Risa: "We'd be glad to kick some ass!"

Water begins to swirl around the martial arts users.

Yukiko: "You wanna make up for last time?"

The torrent grows fierce as Risa knocks one of the strange soldier's head off in a single punch.

Risa: "Oh you only know half the story."

Jay bashes a skull in with one of the shotgun users.

Jay: "Just don't let it get in the way."

Dents are starting to form in Isaac's chest.

Isaac: "Eh, it's nothing."

Diane's sound is beginning to waver.

Diane: "(struggling) It'd better be!"

Electricity begins to cackle.

Dr. LeeAnn: "I'll begin repair programs!"

LeeAnn types away on her keyboard.

Dominic: "(focusing) How's it going?"

Risa and Yukiko roundhouse kick in opposite directions towards a strange soldier, kicking so hard his head pops off.

Yukiko: "Pretty good on our end!"

Jay teleports behind a submachine gun user before snapping his neck.

Jay: "How many more before you go in?"

Diane takes a bullet to the shoulder.

Isaac: "Just another two."

Diane: "You keep up the defensive."

Diane's hand glows black.

Diane: "I'll take them!"

Diane's hand extends and grabs the neck of a strange soldier.

Isaac: "Really?"

The bullets fly at Isaac relentlessly.

Dominic: "(exhausted) I need to break off."

The light fades just after Diane tightens her grip, shattering the soldier's neck.

Jay: "(sighing) Great."

Jay casually tosses a dagger behind him, lodging it in the skull before he telekinetically pulling it out and putting it back in the sheath.

Risa: "Who wants some popcorn?"

Dominic falls onto his knees.

Dr. LeeAnn: "Get behind us and then we'll go ahead and finish the job!"

Yukiko rushes over and hoists Dominic onto her back as the metallic aura forms around Isaac and LeeAnn.

Jay: "I wish we had some popcorn."

Everyone is behind the two as the aura glows bright.

Isaac/ Dr. LeeAnn: "Synergy Attack, Laser Edge!"

Isaac's energy blade is ready for the attack.

Isaac: "I'm about to beat you like my meat..."

Isaac decapitates all of them in one swing.

Isaac: "... and we all know you can't take the heat."

All soldiers drop dead.

Jay: "(sighing) Dick jokes?"

Dominic gets back onto his feet.

Dominic: "Sounds like it."

Gunshots begin to dim down.

Risa: "And it sounds like the others are still locked in battle."

Diane readies her finger gun.

Diane: "Waiting for an invitation?"

They shake off the rest.

Dr. LeeAnn: "Let's hurry. I hadn't had enough time to repair some of BroBot's processing problems."

They hurry towards the bullets...
