Chapter 68: Last Line of Defense

The first of the seven groups consists of Phillip, Dawn, Nyria, William, Emily, Jay, Shoma, Alphonse, Xaena, and Nyria.

Soldiers: "You're charging in head on?!"

Jay and Dawn land head shots.

Dawn: "We aren't going to quit at the end."

Jay: "We're going to show the world just what that Horus guy has been trying to do."

Shoma and Alphonse begin to turn up the heat.

Lucas: "A man like that only wants the worlds to himself and his chosen subordinates!"

Alphonse: "So we're here to end his desire for power by any means necessary!"

Shoma: "No one is going to suffer the way we've been."

Emily, Phillip, and Xaena take a few bullets from the soldiers unfazed by the turn of events.

Emily: "You hear us?!"

Phillip: "We're going to not only change our world."

Xaena: "We're going to save as many as we can!"

William and Nyria have taken down a dozen soldiers.

Nyria: "It's all we can do."

William: "You may think you're in the right, but you couldn't get any further away from it."

Soldiers: "Sh-Shut up! You're just a bunch of teenagers!"

Nyria: "(awkwardly) I'm 96."

Everyone pauses.

Alphonse: "You're 96?!"

Xaena: "I-It's normal."

The fight continues.

Jay: "We can't let ourselves get too tired after this."

Phillip: "Yeah man."

More and more bullets hit the heroes, but nothing that won't halt their onslaught of attacks.

Alphonse: "Flare Bomb!"

Shoma: "Magma Slice!"

They unleash the attacks and dealing with another 20.

Lucas: "We need to wait for the signal."

Dawn: "The annoying part."

William: "But it's still the plan."

The bullets begin to start slowing down the heroes.

Emily: "(in pain) It'd better be soon!"

A bolt of electricity strikes the sky.

Jay: "It's your turn."

The rainbow aura glows bright around Phillip and Nyria.

Nyria: "You all head for the building while we finish this!"

Shoma: "(in pain) See you there."

The heroes stumble towards the White House, but get blocked by a few soldiers.

Soldiers: "No one will harm the president!"

Alphonse: "We were going to spare you, but..."

Phillip/ Nyria: "Synergy Attack, Joy Synchronization!"

The two fire their beams of pink energy, turning all soldiers caught in it into dust.

Emily: "... it's over."

The laser makes their way to the ones in front of the remaining heroes.

Soldiers: "No..."

The laser is cancelled the moment it gets in front of the heroes and a clear path to the White House is opened.

Dawn: "(in pain) Come on! Other teams might have already made it over!"

William: "(in pain) You're right."

They all go as fast as they can to the entrance of the White House, mentally preparing for the last hurdle in their journey...
