Chapter 55: Unwavering

Dante: "I'll charge in!"

This team has 4 strange soldiers, 3 RPG's, 3 submachine guns, and 3 with sidearms.

Connor: "I'd suggest not taking a rocket to the skull."

Spencer: "So let's see here..."

Bell: "Nothing that special."

The soldiers take aim or prepare to lunge.

Eryth: "Try not to let your guards down."

Jack creates a wall of metal.

Jack: "(smiling) Rune #6 Metal!"

The soldiers open fire on Jack.

Jack: "(smiling) I'm not letting last time repeat itself!"

Ike forms mist around his body.

Ike: "We can't let last time repeat itself."

Connor's Echo begins to create flames.

Connor: "So want to wait a little bit, or wrap this up in an attack or two?"

Spencer: "I'd say... an attack or two."

Dante changes into a rhino.

Dante: "Thought you'd never ask!"

Dante charges in as Connor releases the fire.

Connor: "Flare Wave!"

Two RPG's explode upon contact with the fire, killing their users in the process.

Spencer: "Well... shit."

The last rocket is fired, hitting the group in the dead center and sending them flying in all directions.

Bell: "We've got to recover!"

Bullets begin to fly towards the helpless heroes.

Spencer: "Mafia Wave!"

The bullets ricochet off of Spencer, but not off the others.

Dante: "(pain) I've just got to shake this off."

Dante is the least damaged, but mainly due to his size.

Jack: "(smiling) Rune #1 Life."

Jack heals his wounds since he only went towards his wall.

Eryth: "At least there's only one real issue."

Connor gets back on his feet.

Ike: "(in pain) Think you take another bullet?"

The soldiers are reloading.

Connor: "Hell no!"

They're reloaded as the strange soldiers lunge towards Dante.

Dante: "I'll take to the skies!"

Dante changes into a bat and flies to the sky.

Jack: "(smiling) Rune #14 Blood!"

Blood trickling from the wounds on the injured begins to harden.

Spencer: "Something's telling me that won't last long."

Eryth: "It won't!"

Connor and Ike shake it off.

Bell: "Then we'd better pick up the pace!"

The soldiers take aim.

Ike: "First off..."

Icicles extend from beneath Ike and skewers the neck of the rocket user.

Jack: "(smiling) Rune #7 Earth!"

Jack encases everyone in a small room made of soil, absorbing the bullets.

Connor: "Temporary?"

Eryth: "Yeah."

Spencer: "Let's just hope they don't remember about-"

A thud is heard outside.

Spencer: "(awkwardly) ... shit."

Jack lowers the walls.

Jack: "(smiling) You're on it Spencer! Connor!"

Dante has crushed two sidearm soldiers before changing to wolf form and rejoining the rest.

Dante: "You'd better hurry!"

All soldiers hone in on the heroes.

Jack: "Rune #5 Lightning!"

Jack electrocutes another two as the hazy aura forms around Connor and Spencer.

Spencer/ Connor: "Synergy Attack, Twin Quantum!"

The two zip around at light speeds, slamming all soldiers with the force of a runaway train.

Ike: "It's over!"

All soldiers drop dead.

Eryth: "Show offs."

Both fall onto their knees.

Connor: "(exhausted) Give us a minute."

Gunshots get quieter by the second.

Dante: "How're the others doing?"
