Chapter 6

I walk down the corridor to the lab so I can get back to working on finding Clint seeing as none of the agents here have found anything important regarding him or the tesseract. I walk into the lab and over to my screen while Bruce and Tony are messing around with the one beside me, clearly not being helpful.

"Loki means to unleash the hulk"Nat's voice says through my ear-com just as Fury walks into the lab clearly not happy

"What are you doing, Mr. Stark?"Fury asks Tony who is sitting on the work bench

"Uh...kind of been wondering the same thing about you."Tony replies still looking at the screen

"You're supposed to be locating the Tesseract"Fury says seriously not appreciating Tony's attitude

"We are. The model's locked and we're sweeping for the signature now. When we get a hit, we'll have the location within half a mile."I inform Fury with a smile as I lean on my desk

"And you'll get your cube back, no muss, no fuss."Tony says as more files appear on the screen "What is phase 2?"Tony questions making me glance at Fury just as Steve drops an assault rifle on the table causing us to stare at him

"Phase 2 is SHIELD uses the cube to make weapons."Steve says annoyed to us before turning to face Tony "Sorry, the computer was moving a little slow. For me"

"Rogers, we gathered everything related to the Tesseract. This does not mean that we're... "Fury starts to say to Steve calmly

"I'm sorry, Nick." Tony starts to say as he moves the computer screen towards Fury which shows plans of the weapons "What were you lying?" He finishes annoyed

"I was wrong, director. The world hasn't changed a bit"Steve says and in that moment, Thor and Natasha walk into the lab and I share a knowing look with her

"Did you two know about this?"Bruce asks Nat before looking at me also

"You wanna think about removing yourself from this environment, doctor?"Nat replies calmly avoiding the question

"I was in Calcutta, I was pretty well removed." Bruce fires back

"Loki's manipulating you." I tell Bruce wanting him to calm down

"And you've been doing what exactly?" Bruce asks Nat ignoring me

"You didn't come here because I bat my eyelashes at you." Nat says stepping forward with her arms crossed

"Yes, and I'm not leaving because suddenly you get a little twitchy. I'd like to know why SHIELD is using the Tesseract to build weapons of mass destruction." Bruce says looking straight at Fury

"Because of him."Fury says pointing at Thor who looks shocked at this answer

"Last year earth had a visitor from another planet who had a grudge match that leveled a small town. We learned that not only are we not alone, but we are hopelessly, hilariously, outgunned."Fury explains to everyone hoping to calm them down

"My people want nothing but peace with your planet."Thor reassures him

"But you're not the only people out there, are you? And, you're not the only threat. The world's filling up with people who can't be matched, they can't be controlled."Fury hits back at him

"Like you controlled the cube?"Steve questions Fury

"You're work with the Tesseract is what drew Loki to it, and his allies. It is the signal to all the realms that the earth is ready for a higher form of war."Thor says to us all
