Chapter 13

The business meeting was successful, of course it would have been better if Tony had decided to come instead of leaving it all to me and Pepper. Anyway, everything for the new Avengers Tower is finally ready which I'm pleased about however, while I was out of town I saw the news about Steve which is worrying but I think it's all sorted now.

"Hello?" I answer my phone as I drive back home from the airport

"Agent Stark" I hear Fury reply making me shake my head in annoyance

" I thought you were supposed to be dead, then again you've never been the most predictable person" I say smiling as I reach DC

"SHIELD has fallen, all files are out in the open" Fury tells me as I reach the cemetery

" So I heard and by the way I like the new look" I reply as I pull up at the curb and see him. I get out of the car and walk over to him with a smile "What about Steve you never said where he is?" I ask Fury

"Captain Rogers in currently in a recovery room, upstate" Fury tells me making me run a hand through my hair

"How bad is he?" I ask concerned

"He's getting there" Fury says to me with a smile

" I'm gonna head over there. I'm glad to see you alive Fury" I say before turning and getting in the car

"Oh and Kathleen" Fury says so I roll down the window " if anyone asks for me, tell them I'm right here" Fury says pointing to the grave stone

"Will do" I reply before driving off answer heading straight for the hospital.

I quickly park before jogging into the main reception to find out what room Steve is in " Excuse me what room is Steve Rogers in" I ask the lady at the desk

"Are you family" the lady asks me

"No, I'm not but i —" I start to say but the lady cuts me off

"Then I can't tell you where he is" she says making me huff in annoyance

"Hey" a voice says and I turn around to the see the guy from before that was with Steve

"Hi" I reply walking over to him

"He's this way" the guy says and he leads me down the corridors towards Steve's room

"How is he?" I ask the guy

"He just woke up" the guy replies

"Good. What happened exactly, Fury didn't say how" I tell the guy as we turn a corner

"Fell from the hellicarrier all beaten up, he was pulled out of the water. We found him lying on the sand" The guy quickly explains to me

"The guy that shot Fury, was it the same person?" I ask

"Yeah, the winter soldier or something but Steve knew him as someone else" the guy says as we come to a stop outside a room

"Who?" I ask intrigued

"Bucky" the guy answers making me shocked" he's in there, i'll leave you two alone" the guy says with a smile

"Thankyou—?" I pause not knowing his name

"Sam" he replies before walking off. I turn around and walk to the door where Steve is laying there in the bed staring at the tv screen.

"I never knew you were such a fan of football" I say with a smile as he turns to look at me with a smile

"well it is pretty interesting" Steve replies and I walk over to him, placing a kiss on his forehead

"So what happens to staying out of trouble, Rogers?" I ask him with a smirk

"My apologies ma'am" Steve replies smirking

"Sam told me about Bucky. I'm sorry, I should have been here" I apologise to him

"He looked me straight in the eye and he didn't even recognise me" Steve says sadly

"Hydra got to him. There will be someone we can do I promise" I reassure him as I hold his hands

"Thankyou Doll" Steve says

"Your welcome" I reply kissing him before pulling away slightly "So how would you feel moving into the tower now the flat is destroyed?" I ask him with a smirk

"When can we move in?" Steve asks with a smile as I kiss him again. How on earth did I get so lucky?
