Chapter 20

The day so far has been fairly quiet, Steve and Tony outside chopping wood, Bruce hiding away upstairs, Nat and Clint with the kids and then i've been helping Laura around the house. We have all pretty much recovered from what Wanda shew us all and hopefully soon we will be able to head out and find Ultron and put an end to him.

"Ultron took you folks out of play to buy himself time. My contacts all say he's buildingsomething. The amount of Vibranium he made off with, I don't think it's just one thing" Fury informs us as all of us gather around the kitchen table apart from Tony who is playing darts

"What about Ultron himself?" Steve questions

"Ah. He's easy to track, he's everywhere. Guy's multiplying faster than a Catholic rabbit. Still doesn't help us get an angle on any of his plans though." Fury replies

"He still going after launch codes?" I ask as I lean onto the table

"Yes, he is, but he's not making any headway." Fury tells me

" I cracked the Pentagon's firewall in high school on a dare." Tony pipes is making me roll my eyes

"Yeah, well, I contacted our friends at the NEXUS about that." Fury says

"NEXUS?" Steve questions raising his eyebrows in confusion

"It's the world internet hub in Oslo, every byte of data flows through there, fastest access on earth." Bruce quickly explains to Steve who nods in understanding 

"So what'd they say?" Clint asks

" He's fixated on the missiles, but the codes are constantly being changed." Fury replies

"By whom?" Tony asks actually being useful

"Parties unknown." Fury tells him

"Do we have an ally?" Nat questions

"Ultron's got an enemy, that's not the same thing. Still, I'd pay folding money to know who it is" Fury's says

"I might need to visit Oslo, find our "unknown."" Tony says walking around the table

"Well, this is good times, boss, but I was kind of hoping when I saw you, you'd have more than that." Nat says with a smirk

" I do, I have you. Back in the day, I had eyes everywhere, ears everywhere else. Here we all are, back on earth, with nothing but our wit, and our will to save the world. So stand. Outwit the platinum bastard." Fury says smiling

"Steve doesn't like that kind of talk." I tease looking beside me at Steve

"You know what, Stark?" Steve relies smirking down at me making me grin

"So what does he want?" Fury asks, ignoring Steve and I

"To become better. Better than us. He keeps building bodies." Steve answers looking back over at Fury

"Person bodies. The human form is inefficient, biologically speaking, we're outmoded. But he keeps coming back to it." I answer as I look at the picture Lila hands Nat

"When you two programmed him to protect the human race, you amazingly failed." Nat jokes smiling

"They don't need to be protected, they need to evolve. Ultron's going to evolve." Bruce pipes in making me look at him

"How?" Fury asks

"Has anyone been in contact with Helen Cho?"

"I'll take Natasha and Clint." Steve tells me and Tony as we get ready to leave

"Alright, strictly recon. I'll hit the NEXUS, I'll join you as soon as I can." Tony replies

"If Ultron is really building a body..." Steve says

"He'll be more powerful than any of us. Maybe all of us. An android designed by a robot." Tony finishes

"You know I really miss the days when the weirdest thing science ever created was me." Steve jokes making me smile

"I'll drop Banner and Miss Stark off at the tower. Do you mind if I borrow Ms. Hill?" Fury asks as he joins us

"She's all yours, apparently. What are you gonna do?" Tony asks him

"I don't know. Something dramatic, I hope." Fury replies before him and Tony both leave and head out towards the jet

"Be save out there Captain" I say to Steve, wrapping my arms around his neck

"Yes ma'am" Steve replies smiling as he kisses me my heart flutter

"I love you" I mutter into his neck

"I love you too" Steve replies before we pull away and Laura and Clint walk over to us.

"You all ready?" I ask Clint who nods and after Steve thanks Laura, he and Clint both leave. "I'll be back as soon as possible, I would hate to miss the arrival of this little one" I tell her smiling as I place a hand on her belly

"You better be Kat" Laura says pulling me into a hug

"I should go, tell the children i'll see them soon" I say before turning and heading towards the door

"Kat!" Laura calls making me stop and turn to her "Next time I see you, I expect a ring on that finger"
