Chapter 47

I soon found myself back at the compound, standing on the quantum platform and i look to see the others, hopefully as with their own stones.

"Did we get them all?" Bruce asks us, breaking the silence as Rhodey breaks out in a smile almost relieved "Your telling me this actually worked?" he asks us as I realise Clint is on the floor crying. Its then i realise by best friend didn't make it back.

Out of all of us I was sure Nat would survive going back in time, she always survived. She was always to strong and kept a brave face on even when all seemed hopeless. She trained me, when i first joined S.H.I.E.LD although, she didn't seem to happy about it at the time. She was there for me at my highs and lows. I saw the side to her that not many people got to see and i will forever be grateful for that. She may be gone but she will never be forgotten. 

"Do we know if she had any family" Tony asks as we all sit outside the HQ, mourning.

"Yeah us" Steve answers as he continues to run a hand down my arm.

"what?" Thor asks looking slightly confused so we all turn to look over at him. He still hadn't seemed to realise that she was gone and we wouldn't see her again. "I just asked him a question" Tony tells Thor

"Yeah, you're acting like she's dead. Why are we acting like she's dead? We have the stones, right? As long as we have the stones we can bring her back isn't that right?" Thor asks us but it sounds more like he's trying to convince himself its possible "So stop this shit. We're the avengers, get it together" Thor tells us when no one answer him.

"We can't get her back" Clint speaks up for the first time in a while, i know he fells guilty but he shouldn't it wasn't his fault. "what?" Thor asks him

"It can't be undone. It can't" Clint says which causes Thor to laugh. "I'm sorry, no offense but your a very earthly being okay? We're talking about space magic. And cant seems very definitive don't you think?" Thor tells Clint

"Yeah look i know i'm way outside my paygrade here, But she still isn't here is she?" Clint says to Thor as he walks over to him "No that's my point" Thor tells him

"It can't be undone. Or that's at least what the red floating guy had to say. Maybe you wanna go talk to him okay? GO GRAB YOUR HAMMER AND YOU FLY AND TALK TO HIM" Clint shouts at Thor and i quickly go over to him and wrap my arm around him, to help calm him "It was supposed to be me. She sacrificed he life for that goddam stone. She bet her life on it" Clint says as Bruce grabs a bench and hurls it across the lake.

"She's not coming back, we have to make it worth it" Bruce says as he turns to look at us all. "We will" I assure him.

After changing into my normal black suit, I walk down the hall in hopes of finding Clint. Out of all of us he's definitely the most shook. "Hey, i think the guys are done with the gauntlet" i say to Clint as i walk over to him and sit down beside him "This is our chance to get everybody back, including your family. This is what Nat wanted, she wanted you to be happy. We are gonna bring everyone back and make her proud" I tell him as he leans his head on my shoulder.

"I should have jumped. It should have been me. After everything i did Kat, it should have been me" Clint says as i run my hand up and down his head "You had a crap 5 years, which is understandable. No one can blame you for being out of it. But this is your chance to make Nat proud okay? We are going to in the lab and we are going to get everyone back. We've come this  far, lets do this for Nat" I tell him and after a moments of hesitation, we both walk down the corridor and into the lab where everyone else is along with the gauntlet.

"All right. The gloves ready. Question is, who's gonna snap their freaking fingers?" Rocket asks us and Thor is quick to volunteer but we all soon step in, i still don't think he's particularly sober.

"Thor wait we haven't decided who's gonna put that on just yet" Steve says as Thor reaches towards the gauntlet. "I'm sorry. What we're just sitting around waiting for the right opportunity?" Thor asks us

"We should at least discuss it" I tell him

"No, no sitting here staring at that thing is not gonna bring everyone back. I'm the strongest Avenger, okay? So this responsibility falls on me" Thor argues as Tony steps in "It's not about that-"

"It's not just that-Stop it! Just let me do it, let me do it. Just let me do something good. Something right" Thor says as he starts to tear up and i share a worrying glance with Steve. "Look its not just the fact that the glove is channelling enough energy to light up a continent, I'm telling you, you're in no condition" Tony argues back and at this rate it doesn't look like we will be making a decision anytime soon.

"What do you think is coursing through my veins right now?" Thor asks us "Cheez wiz?" Rocket responds which i have to admit does make me smile a tad. "Lightning" Thor says, ignoring Rocket's remark.

"Lightning won't help you pal. It's gotta be me. You saw what those stones did to Thanos. It almost killed him. None of you could survive that" Bruce speaks us and as much as i hate to admit it, i know he's right.

"How do we know you will?" Steve asks him concerned. "We don't. But the radiation's mostly gamma. It's like i was made for this" Bruce says and after little discussion it's agreed.

"good to go yeah?" Tony asks Bruce as we all stand around and watch. "Yeah let's do it" Bruce agrees "Remember everyone Thanos snapped away five years ago and just bring them back to today. Don't change anything from the past 5 years" I remind Bruce with a smile. "Got it"

"F.R.I.D.A.Y do me a favour and activate barn door protocol, will you?" i ask her and soon the entire building is in lock down. "Everyone comes home" Bruce mutters as he puts on the gauntlet which nanobotically expands to fit his hand and the power begins to surge, overwhelming him.

"Take it off. Take it off" Thor shouts as Bruce cries in pain. "Bruce are you okay?" Steve asks him who replies yes  as we all suit up, not knowing what to expect. Steve pushes me slightly behind him as Bruce managers to snap his fingers before sliding the gauntlet of his arm.

"Did it work?" Bruce asks as Steve rushes to his side to support him as Clint kicks the gauntlet away. "Worth a shot. it's over it's okay" Thor reassures him and moments late  i hear Clint's hone start to ring.

"Honey. Honey" Clint answers. Laura. With a smile i walk over to him, joyed that it worked and he has his family back. 

The next few seconds were a blur. Scott said it worked and then next thing i knew i was being thrown back with a force before everything went black but one thig i did know was that whatever was about to happen would not be good.
