Chapter 32

2 years ago that's how long it's been since I last saw Steve and it's been hard but i've moved on I'm focusing on myself, Rhodey, Tony and Pepper that's it. Tony and Pepper are getting married so I've been helping them plan as Tony keeps coming up with stupid ideas.

"Boss you have an incoming call from Mr Stark" Friday says as I drive back to the compound after an early trip to the mall.

"Okay put him through" I tell her "Hey Tony what's up?" I ask him as I drive up the road

"I'm sorry but I had to do it" Tony says making me confused as I reach the gates 

"Had to do what?" I question a little worried

"Look up" Tony says and as I do I see a huge space ship in the sky, how didn't I notice that earlier?

"Oh my god, please don't tell me you are on that thing" I exclaim and I hear him sigh "You get your ass back here right now I swear to god" I shout before the line falls dead.

"Still no word from Vision?" Ross asks me and Rhodey through the hologram as we sit in the lab discussing the events that have just occurred 

"Satellites lost him somewhere over Edinburgh" Rhodey replies.

"On a stolen quinjet with four of the world's most wanted criminals." Ross replies annoyed

"You know they're only criminals because you've chosen to call them that, right, sir?" I ask him with a smirk

"My God, Stark, Rhodes, your talent for horseshit rivals my own." Ross says to us

"If it weren't for those Accords that you wanted, Vision would've been right here. So technically it's your fault" I tell him getting annoyed

"I remember your signature on those papers,Stark, Colonel."Ross says walking closer to the screen

"That's right. And I'm pretty sure I've paid for that" Rhodey says firmly as I glance at the braces on his legs that allow him to walk

"You have second thoughts?" Ross asks me as I look up behind him with a smirk

"Not anymore." I reply and he turns around as Steve, Nat, Wanda and Vision who is supported by Sam, all walk in

"Mr. Secretary" Steve says with a nod and god has he gotten hotter over the past two years

"You got some nerve. I'll give you that." Ross tells them

"You could use some of that right now." Nat says making me smirk

"The world's on fire. And you think, all is forgiven?" Ross asks them

"I'm not looking for forgiveness. And I'm way past asking for permission. Earth just lost her best defender. So we're here to fight. And if you wanna stand in our way... we'll fight you, too." Steve says with full authority in his voice

"Arrest them." Ros says to me and Rhodey

"All over it." I reply swiping of the hologram with a smirk

"That's a court-martial. It's great to see you, Cap." Rhodey tells him

"You too, Rhodey" Steve says as they share a hug and I go over to Nat and hug her

"I missed you" I say as I hug my best friend

"Right back at you" she says pulling away with a smirk

"The blonde, it suits you" I say smiling

"Well. You guys really look like crap. Must've been a rough couple of years" Rhodey says facing them all

"Yeah, well, the hotels weren't exactly five star." Sam jokes

"Uh, I think you look great." Bruce says walking into the roo "Uh... heh... Yeah. I'm back." He adds awkwardly

"Hi, Bruce." Nat says smiling

"Nat." Bruce replies with a nod, you can literally feel the sexual tension beteeen the two of them

"So we gotta assume they're coming back, right?"Rhodey asks as we move into a different room

"And they can clearly find us." Wanda adds in

"We need all hands on deck. Where's Clint?" Bruce asks looking around for him

"After the whole Accords situation, he and Scott took a deal. It was too tough on their families, they're on house arrest" I quickly explain to him

"Who's Scott?" Bruce asks

"Ant-Man." Steve answers

"There's an Ant-Man and a Spider-Man? Okay, look... Thanos has the biggest army in the universe. And he is not gonna stop until he... he gets... Vision's Stone." Bruce quickly sums up

"Well then, we have to protect it." Nat immediately says stepping forward

"No, we have to destroy it. I've been giving a good deal of thought to this entity in my head, about its nature. But also, its composition. I think if it were exposed to a sufficiently powerful energy source, something, very similar to its own signature, perhaps... Its molecular integrity could fail." Vision explains moving to face Wanda

"And you, with it. We're not having this conversation." Wanda tells him

"Eliminating the stone is the only way to be certain that Thanos can't get it." Vision tells her

"That's too high a price." Wanda says

"Only you have the power to pay it. Thanos threatens half the Universe. One life cannot stand in the way of defeating him." Vision explains

"But it should. We don't trade lives, Vision." Steve tells him

" Captain, 70 years ago, you laid down your life to save how many millions of people. Tell me, why is this any different?" Vision asks walking towards Steve

"Because you might have a choice. Your mind is made up of a complex construct of overlays. J.A.R.V.I.S., Ultron, Tony, me, Bruce, the Stone. All of them mixed together. All of them learning from one another." I explain to vision before Steve can say anything

"You're saying Vision isn't just the stone?" Wanda asks me

"I'm saying that if we take out the stone, there's still a whole lot of Vision left. Perhaps the best parts." I tell her

"Can we do that?" Nat asks

"Not me. Not here." I say shaking my head slightly

"You better find someone, and somewhere fast. Ross isn't exactly just gonna let you guys have your old rooms back." Rhodey says to us

"I know somewhere." Steve says making us all turn to him
