Chapter 41

The 5 of us are in a lab in the Avengers Compound, Bruce is  fiddling with buttons on the control panel for the 'time machine'.  Scott is in his Ant-Man costume is in front of his van, with the back open to show the Quantum Tunnel while me, Nat and Steve are standing beside Bruce

"Okay, here we go. Time travel test number one. Scott, fire up the uhhh... the van thing." Bruce calls and Scott quickly  opens up the portal

"Breakers are set, emergency generators are on standby." Steve says as he holds the ipad in one hand

"Good. 'Cause if we blow the grid, I don't wanna lose tiny here in the 1950's." Bruce says making Scott, Nat, me and Steve give him a panicked lock

"Excuse me?" Scott asks a little on edge

"He's kidding." I tell Scott before turning to Bruce "You can't say things like that!" I say in a hushed tone

"Just... It was a bad joke." Bruce says with a smile

"You were kidding, right?" Nat asks Bruce

"I have no idea. We're talking about time travel here. Either it's all a joke, or none of it is." Bruce says to Nat before Loudly turning and giving  Scott a thumbs up "We're good! Get your helmet on, Scott. I'm gonna send you back a week, let you walk around for an hour, then bring you back in 10 seconds. Makes sense?" Bruce commands

"Perfectly not confusing" Scott replies

"Good luck, Scott. You got this." Steve tells him

"You're right. I do, Captain America." Scott says with s huge smile

"On the count of three. 3... 2... 1!" Bruce announces

Bruce presses a button, and Scott disappears into the Quantum Tunnel. In 5 seconds, Bruce presses the button again and some teenager  in the Ant-man suit comes back

"Uh, guys? This...this doesn't feel right." Scott says making me smile

"Yeah can't imagine why?" I reply with a smile

"What is this?" Steve asks not very amused

"What's going on?" Bruce asks

"That...who is that?" Nat asks

"I think a teenage Scott" I answer as Bruce pushes another couple of buttons, trying to fix the problem. Teen Scott gets sucked in back into the quantum tunnel, and it appears to be an old man in the Ant-Man suit.

"Ow! My back!" Scott exclaims

"What is this?" Steve asks

"Can you bring him back?" I ask Bruce

"I'm working on it!" Bruce replies, tapping the side of the button pad, trying to pull back Scott. After a moment, another person appears in front of us. This time, it's a baby in the Ant-Man suit. Great

"It's a baby." Steve says rather seriously

"It's Scott."

"As a baby!"

"He'll grow."

"Bring Scott back!"

"When I say kill the power, kill the power." Bruce tells Nat

"Oh my god." Nat says as she rapidly walks nearer to the generator

"And... Kill it!" Bruce says to her and  she pulls down a lever, and everything shuts down. Scott, the normal Scott, gets spewed back out again.

"Somebody peed my pants. "Scott exclaims

"Oh thank god." I mutter as I rest my head on Steve's arm

"But I don't know if it was "baby" me or "old" me...Or just "me" me." Scott says

"Time travel!" Bruce exclaims Steve says nothing. He simply shakes his head and walks away so I quickly hurry after him

"What? I see this as an absolute win!" Bruce calls as we leave the room

I walk out of the compound and see Steve sitting on the bench in deep thought, sighing I walk over to him and kneel down in front of him. "This will work Steve. We just need a bit of practice that's all" I tell him with a warm smile

"I know" Steve answers and I stand up to place a kiss on his forehead

"Maybe then after all this we can finally rest" I say to him with a smile. Before he can reply however an engine roaring hits our ears and we turn to see an Audi R8 speeding towards the entrance. The car pulls over to us but goes a bit too far so then reverses so it's inline with us as we stand beside the car.

"Why the long face? Let me guess: He turned into a baby?." Tony asks as he rolls down the window

"Among other things, yeah. What are you doing here?" Steve asks Tony who gets out of the car, and walks around to the back of it

"That's the EPR paradox. Instead of pushing Lang through time, you might've wound up pushing time through Lang. It's tricky. Dangerous. Somebody shoulda cautioned you against it." Tony says, completely ignoring Steve

"You did." Steve says

"Oh, did I?" Tony questions, acting like he did not "Thank God I'm here. Regardless, I fixed it." Tony says as he holds up his right hand, with a device on it "A fully functioning Time-Space GPS. I just want peace. Turns out, resentment is corrosive, and I hate it."

"Me too." Steve says

"We got a shot at getting these stones, but I gotta tell you my priorities: Bring back what we lost? I hope, yes. Keep what I got? I have to, at all costs. And... maybe not die trying will be nice." Tony says to us

"Sounds like a deal" Steve says as he reaches out his hand to shake in the deal, in which Tony replies in the same way.

"See was it really that hard to be able to get along?" I ask them with a smile and Steve wraps his arm around me, also smiling

Tony reaches back into his trunk to pull something else out, Captain America's Shield. He hands to give it to Steve, who hesitates.

"Tony..." Steve says unsure

"Why? He made it for you.Plus, honestly I have to get it out of the garage before Morgan takes it sledding." Tony says as Steve fits his arm into the shield

"Thank you, Tony" Steve says

"Will you keep that a little quiet? Didn't bring one for the whole team...We are getting the whole team, yeah?" Tony asks us

"We're working on that right now." I reply and Tony nods before walking inside "Speaking of team, I'm gonna go with Nat to get Clint" I tell Steve

"You sure your up to that?" Steve asks me

"No. It was hard on him like it was for all of us but I need to give him hope. Clint has always been there for me, I need to do the same" I explain to Steve

"Be safe" Steve says while giving me a kiss

"Always am Captain"
