Chapter 38

"Bruce gave him a sedative. He's gonna be out for the rest of the day." I explain to everyone as I walk back into the room with Rhodey beside me

"You guys take care of him. And I'll bring Xorrian Elixir when I come back." Carol tells us

"Where are you going?" Nat asks her

"To kill Thanos." Carol says, causing me to roll my eyes at her ego

"Hey, you know, we usually work as a team around here, and between you and I, we're also a little fragile." I says as I step towards her

"We realize out there is more of your territory, but this is our fight too." Steve says to Carol from beside me

"Do you even know where he is?" Rhodey asks her

"I know people who might." Carol answers

"Don't bother. I can tell you where Thanos is"Nebula says making us all turn to her "Thanos spent a long time trying to perfect me. Then when he worked, he talked about his great plan. Even disassembled, I wanted to please him. I'd ask "where would we go once his plan was complete?". His answer was always the same: To the Garden." Nebula explains to us all

"That's cute, Thanos has a retirement plan." Rhodey comments

"So where is he then?" Steve asks

"When Thanos snapped his fingers, Earth became ground zero for a power surge of ridiculously cosmic proportions. No one's ever seen anything like it... Until two days ago" Rocket says as a hologram of a planet pops up, with a shockwave visibly traversing the surface. "On this planet." Rocket finishes

"Thanos is there." Nebula confirms as I take a closer look at the hologram

"He used the stones again." I mutter as I look at the hologram carefully

"Hey, Hey, we'd be going in short-handed, you know." Bruce speaks up

"Look, he's still got the stones, so..." Rhodey says

"So let's get him... We'll use them to bring everyone back." Carol suggests to everyone

"Just like that?" Rhodey questions

"Yeah, just like that." Steve says as I look up at him

"Even if there's a small chance that we can undo this... I mean we owe it to everyone who's not in this room to try." I say looking at everyone

"If we do this, how do we know it's gonna end any differently than it did before?" Bruce questions

"Because before, you didn't have me." Carol says making me scoff in annoyance

"Hey, new girl, everyone here is about that superhero life. And if you don't mind my asking, where the hell have you been all this time?" Rhodey questions her

"There are a lot of other planets in the universe. And unfortunately, they didn't have you guys." Carol replies asThor, who has been eating a snack behind us all this time, stands up and walks over to Carol. He holds his hand up, and catches Stormbreaker as it flies over to him, missing Carol by inches. But Carol doesn't even flinch, instead smiling at the God of Thunder

" I like this one." Thor smiles at us

"Let's go get this son of a bitch." Steve says as he puts an arm around me

"Language"

Cut to a shot of everyone except for Tony aboard the Benatar

"Okay, who here hasn't been to space?" Rocket asks as all of us apart from Tony are on board the Benatar and me, Nat, Steve and Rhodey raise our hands

"Why?" Rhodey asks clearly worried

"You better not throw up on my ship." Rocket tells us as I grip the arms of the seat tighter

"Approaching jump in 3... 2... 1!" Nebula says as the ship jumps forward into a wormhole, and I Steve holding onto his seat for dear life so I put my left hand on top of his Tom help calm him. The ship slows down, and the ship hovers in orbit of the planet seen in the hologram previously and Carol soon hovers in front of the Benatar as we watch her

"I'll head down for recon." Carol says before disappearing and we all get up from our seats and I follow Steve to the side of the ship

"This is gonna work, Steve." I say, placing my hand on his arm

" I know it will." Steve says as I notice he's holding his compass with an image of Peggy Carter inside and surprisingly me on the other side "Because I don't know what I'm going to do if it doesn't." Steve finishes as Carol appears so me turn and walk over to her

" No satellites, no ships, no armies, no ground defenses of any kind. It's just him." Carol says and I'm a little surprised he's alone

"Then that's enough." Nebula says

As as we land outside the hut, Carol flies through the roof, knocking Thanos down, and grabbing his neck. Bruce in the Hulkbuster armor bursts from the ground, and grabs Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet arm. Thor flies in and slices off the Infinity Gauntlet. Rhodey flies down with Rocket and aims guns on Thanos' head as me, Steve walk in with Natasha right behind us, staring murderously at Thanos. Rocket goes over to the sliced off Infinity Gauntlet, and kicks it over, as we realise that there are no stones in it

"Oh no." Rhodey mutters

"Where are they?" Steve asks Thanos

"Answer the question!" Carol hisses as she tightens her grip on his neck

"The universe required correction. After that, the stones served no purpose, beyond temptation." Thanos answers

"You murdered trillions!" Bruce shouts as he pushes him to the ground wearing his Hulk Buster armour

"You should be grateful." Thanks says as he's punched by Hulk Buster

"Where are the stones?" Nat asks with little patience in her voice

"Gone. Reduced to atoms."Thanos says

"You used them two days ago!" I snap, not believing him

"I used the stones to destroy the stones. It nearly... killed me. But the work is done. it always will be. I am inevitable." Thanks explains to us

"We have to tear this place apart, he-he-he has to be lying." Rhodey stutters

"My father is many things. A liar is not one of them." Nebula says making me look at he

"Ah, thank you, daughter. Perhaps I treated you too harshly." Thanos says as I notice Thor's face filled with rage as he raises to summon Stormbreaker, and before we can stop him he slices Thanos's head off.

"What... What did you do?" I ask Thor

"I went for the head."
