HOSEOK POV
Yixing's banquet hall was completely packed with eyes when I arrived, changed for the evening.
"Ah, Jung Hoseok! So good of you to join us for dinner," Lay beamed as I descended the steps, a glint in his narrow eyes. I noticed the lack of guards immediately, save for three tall associates at the door but there were a lot of women, and I knew for a fact they were probably armed twofold. Straightening, I gave Chen the signal to get himself in snipe form and then took a seat at the table.
"I just couldn't miss a chance to check out my competition," I said, smiling nonchalantly at the Chinese gangster. "Though I doubt your hotel food is as good as mine."
Lay rolled his eyes. "Please, I've tried the clam chowder at your Serendipity in Thailand and nearly incinerated my intestines."
"It can't be much better than those," I smirked, nodding at the plate of limp oysters but Lay just clapped his hand impatiently.
"Bring the lobster! Jung Hoseok wants to be impressed."
I cleaned my utensils as the food arrived, platter after platter until the table was completely covered. Two of Lay's girls descended on me as well, one starting to rub my thigh while the other mixed my vodka.
"So where's Daoxing?" I wondered, beginning to dismember the lobster. "I thought he could join us here."
But Lay frowned at the mention of his brother. "Why? He's enjoying his freedom."
"Yet we treated him so well."
The mobster narrowed his eyes. "Don't think I can't see through your plan. Maybe I lost rights to the coast but I have monopolies in other places you will never break."
Of course.
It was no secret that Zhangxing ran the opium trade around here. Even the police were in on it.
"Keep your monopoly," was all I said, removing the girl's hand from my leg. "But good luck dealing with Minseok's cartel once he assumes charge next month~he's three times as tenacious as me."
Lay leaned forward, tensing. "Minseok? Are you retiring or something?"
I chuckled. "Hardly. But my marriage will keep me in Korea."
"Really?" His expression grew surprised. "And may I ask who the lucky lady is?"
Y/n.
"Someone very special to me."
Lay let out a chuckle. "Being ambiguous I see. Well, you're gonna have to send me an invite. Now where's my alcohol?" Raising his eyes, he gestured over at one of the workers. "Cereal girl! Pour the whiskey!"
I leaned back, downing my glass as the next round of alcohol arrived in crystal bottles.
"Ah, there we go," Lay smiled, clearly enjoying himself. "But enough small talk Jung. The land settlement doesn't change the fact that you owe me $12.5 million in disrupting my Hong Kong shipment."
I lowered my eyes. "You mean the line Daoxing was heading?"
"Yes, and--"
"Your whiskey."
I glanced at the girl. "Ah, thank you thank--"
No.
Those eyes, that sweet face, that cute head duck--
No, it....couldn't be.
Blinking, I looked at her again and a knife seemed to plunge into my abdomen.
