I couldn't sleep again tonight. The same nightmare. Whenever I closed my eyes, it was like I was back there again, in that small cupboard, hiding. It was like I could hear everything again, the gunshots, the crying, the voices, the screams.....
The nightmares had stopped for a little while. Usually, I had them every night but ever since I had moved here, it happened like once in a week or something.
So thanks to my nightmares, here I was at 11 in the night on the terrace with a chocolate bar in my hand, rethinking my life.
I was lying to them. I was lying to all my friends. Alicia and Liam were the closest to me and yet they knew absolutely nothing about me. How would they react when they actually get to know about how messed up my life is?
But I also know that they would never find out, I will probably just move again. Move before someone else gets hurt.
"Lydia?" a voice interrupted, Alec.
He walked towards me and sat down right next to me casually. He had probably already forgotten about the kiss and I was trying my hardest to forget about it.
"What are you doing here at 11?" He asked
"Couldn't sleep, you?"
"Same" he said taking the chocolate from my hand.
"Mine!" I snatched it back and he just laughed.
"So what are you staring at?" He asked
"Stars, they are beautiful aren't they?"
Mom loved watching the stars. We would spend hours in the garden, gazing at the stars. She always said that she felt like her parents were up there, watching her. And now whenever, I looked at the stars, I could feel my parents watching me. It made me feel home.
"Not really" he replied in a whisper.
"What? You don't think stars are beautiful?"
"Well they are beautiful but I still think that they are kind of over rated"
"You think stars are over rated?!"
"Yeah, I mean......they are literally just white twinkling dots on a black paper"
"And you are just a body of blood and bones, what's your point?"
"Hey! Strong bones and really sexy body!"
"Please shut up before I break those strong bones" I rolled my eyes taking the last bite of my chocolate and Alec just smirked.
"Why do you like stars so much anyways?" he asked, raising his eyebrow.
"Because they make me feel like I am home"
I smiled at the stars and this is going to sound really stupid but a part of me was hoping that mom's face would appear in the sky and smile back at me.
"Then why did you leave home?"
I looked at Alec with a jerk and I found him staring right into my eyes as if trying to get all the information through my eyes.
"Nothing important so are you done with the Maths assignment?" I quickly looked away
"Hey Liddy" Alec turned me towards him, his hands resting on my cheeks "What's going on?"
"What are you talking about? Nothing's going on" I fake smiled, quickly getting up "Anyways I think I should go to sleep now, Goodnight!"
I had just started walking when I felt Alec's hands pull me back towards him. We were literally cm's away from each other and my heart was going to leap out of my heart any minute.
He gently placed one on his hands on my cheeks, moving a strand of hair behind my ears.
"Don't lie Liddy" he whispered making me freeze on the spot
"I am....not...lying" I managed
"Tell me what's wrong"
"Nothing's wrong"
Why was this happening? My brain was telling me to push him away but my stupid legs and hands weren't working.
"There is something definitely wrong and I'll find out" he whispered again
"Why? Why do you want to find out?" I asked.
Alec Hales had to stay out of my life.
"Because whatever is wrong is obviously hurting you and I don't want to see you getting hurt so I am going to fix whatever the hell is wrong. Just trust me"
My heart skipped a beat, actually it just stopped working. Alec Hales, the school's bad boy was standing cm's away from me telling me he didn't want to see me getting hurt? I am sure this is a dream.....it is right?
"You can't fix it Alec" I swallowed the lump in my throat
"Give me a chance" he smiled.
What the hell was he doing to me?!
"I am out of chances Alec, can't give any" I managed, smiling back.
"Well then, I'll take the chance myself"
"Why do you care anyways?" I finally blurted out.
He kept staring at me for a couple seconds as if trying to come up with a proper answer and before I could say anything else, Alec crashed his lips on mine.
HOLY FREAKING BUBBLES!!! ALEC HALES WAS KISSING ME AND WITHOUT A DARE??!!
There was a lot of things I should have done when he started kissing me. I should have pushed him away, yelled at him and should have told him to stay away from me but instead what did I find myself doing?
Kissing him back.
Why?
I had absolutely no idea.
He cupped my face and my hands automatically moved to his hair.
Someone please stop me!
It was like I had absolutely no control over my body. I wanted to pull away but I couldn't.
This wasn't supposed to be happening!!
He was kissing me so gently yet so passionately.
He continued kissing me for what felt like the few minutes of heaven after which he slowly pulled away.
I slowly opened my eyes to see him smiling broadly. He leaned in again and planted a soft kiss on my lips and then moved his lips to my forehead.
"Goodnight Liddy"
And with that he walked away leaving a mess behind.
