KALEIDOSCOPE: CHAPTER 17

I.

CHITTAPHON

After you.” Dongyoung courteously reached his hands out to me as he pulled the right car door open, indicating that I should go inside first before him. My introverted self bewilderingly took a quick glance in the car, greeted by those three pair of staring eyes.

Oh god, this is so awkward. Why do I have to be with them? Knowing the clash that had occurred between the two of them, the atmosphere was too edgy. And it looks like Dongyoung was planning to make me sit between him and Taeyong, making it seemed like I was their barricade.

“A–Ah, no, you should go inside first. Take the lead.” I awkwardly averted my gaze elsewhere, giving him a forced smile. I unconsciously played the hem of my shirt, easing the nervousness I've been feeling ever since they've brought me here.

A deep, irritated groan was heard at the small vehicle, causing us to look at the cause of that sound.

“Ugh, just get in. Hurry up.” The guy impatiently added, sparing us a bored glance at the rear view mirror. It was Sicheng.

I gathered all the courage I could muster to look at the latter’s reaction and took a peek at the mocking smile Dongyoung retorted, rolling his eyes secretly, taunting the other guy’s impatient words.

“Alrighty,” Dongyoung said cheerfully, the exact opposite of his sulky response a while ago as he followed Sicheng’s demand and got in the car. “Here, sit beside me.” He then grinned at me widely whilst tapping the right empty space beside him which I immediately accepted before Sicheng completely blew up.

As I got in, the chilly air from the air conditioner instantly engulfed me and so is the cold war between these four. I didn’t even get that much time to fix my seat as soon as I sat down, it was as if I was stone-cold by the tensed atmosphere between the four of them was emanating. I feel like if I’ve move even just for a little bit, the car— I mean, their tension will blow up again. Everything around me was too antsy, the cold and harsh glare they’re all throwing at each other was too uptight, it was like I was watching some kind of archery competition or some shit. But the back seat was one of the worst. The way Dongyoung coldly avoid the latter while the two lovers at the front seat dauntlessly almost cuddled each other makes everything so damn awkward.

Oh god, I didn’t sign up for this.

Shit, I was too damn tensed up that I forgot to ask him why the heck did they suddenly came barging into my room and disturbing my precious nap. The way my heart raced through my chest when I thought Jaehyun was with them was too unbelievable.

Wait. . .  speaking of Jaehyun, where is he?

I don’t know why but just the thought of him made me more anxious. Suddenly, my mind started to flood with tons and tons of unanswered questions. Did something bad happened to Jaehyun? Where the heck are we really going? Does Xiaojun’s horrid plan really worked out?

Okay, fuck it. Chittaphon, stop overthinking negative thoughts.

“Hey, are you okay?” I flinched at the sudden tap on my left shoulder, making me automatically glanced at Dongyoung. The kind and thoughtful stare he’s giving me makes it hard for me to read his eyes, mainly because his furrowed eyebrows makes it seem like it’s the opposite of what he’s showing. I nervously held the hem of my shirt, a habit of mine I’ve been doing whenever I feel scared or anxious, his nose almost touching mine because of how close he was at me and I could feel his warm breath brushing softly against my face.
