I Love You

Camila’s P.O.V

It had been ten months since Lauren and I were together in a relationship and to be honest, it was all going great. She was sweet, gentle and whenever I was around she seemed to forget about all the pain inside of him and smiled a little bit brighter. Her friends also noticed this and told me that I was changing Lauren into a happier person and they liked that. They would also say that after all the years they had been with their best friend on mall trips, she had never been so relaxed and that made me smile. The only thing that backed me off a little bit is that she never had actually pronounced the words “I love you”. I know she wasn’t the type that opened up to you easily but I thought we were intimate enough for these words to be said. Of course I never said them to her either because I am a very traditional girl that always wants the more dominant person in the relationship to say the words first but, god, I just wanted to make her know I did love her very very much right this second.

“Hey, let’s go eat something in that trashy restaurant next to the the old church, I’m too lazy to drive all the way to the nearest town to get some decent food.” Lauren’s voice dragged me out of my thoughts.

“You just want to go because you heard they did some pretty good burgers.” Normani said what I was about to say. I also knew she wanted to go to that restaurant because of the hamburgers.

“Yeah, Mani… sorry for not liking that crappy organic food of yours but you’ll just have to deal with it.”
Normani stood up and pushed her bestfriend before entering her room to go put her coat on. Lauren got the keys from the counter top and looked at me. I was stupidly looking at her. I still couldn’t believe how lucky I had gotten. She was so beautiful and perfect that it seemed strange that from all the girls she had been with she would’ve picked me. But I still had this fear of losing her because of the fucking fact that she didn’t yet say I love you to me.

“Hey baby, you seem pretty quiet, are you okay?”

“Yeah, I’m just real hungry”

“C’MON NORMANI! CAMILA AND I ARE STARVING! HOW LONG DO YOU HAVE TO TAKE TO GET YOUR COAT?! I BET YOU’RE LOOKING AT YOURSELF IN THE MIRROR RIGHT NOW!”

“SHUT UP YOU ASSHOLE!”

Lauren and I looked at each other and laughed. I liked the way they showed their love for each other, it was very unique.

We got to the restaurant and I was surprised of how short the ride was. The restaurant was literally “right next to the coffee shop”. I was disappointed because my favorite part of my favourite song didn’t get to play because of the proximity of our destiny. Lauren parked and we all headed to the restaurant. It looked pretty crappy from the exterior and to be honest, the interior didn’t get any better. It was the typical diner, the kind that when you saw it you decided to drive a little longer to find another place to eat. I really hoped Lauren was right and the hamburgers were tasty. We sat down at the table next to the door because at least when someone came in a bit of fresh air could hit us and the strong smell of food would go away for a couple of seconds.

“Sorry, Lauren, I’m with Normani on this one. Where the hell have you brought us? I could’ve just brought some take away back to the apartment”

Normani and I high-fived and Lauren gave us a death glare and then I knew she wasn’t going to answer my comment. The door then opened and I appreciated the fresh air coming in.
“Camila!?”

I knew that voice… but it couldn’t be true. I looked up and I saw him, my ex-boyfriend. He looked the same as always, really well-dressed and handsome. I had a lot of good memories with him and we have always had a good relationship regardless our breaking up because of him going to study in a different country. But, what the hell was he doing in this type of restaurant?
