“I don’t want you to be my girlfriend anymore.”

Nine words. It only took Lauren nine words to break Camila’s heart. Nine words to end their supposedly seven-year anniversary. Nine. Fuckin. Words.

Like who in their right mind would break up with their significant other on their anniversary? Oh and it was also conveniently Camila’s 26thbirthday. Did Lauren not get the memo that it was the shittiest way to end things? Did she not know that it was not the “surprise” Camila was expecting when she walked through that door? Did she not know that Camila bought a provocative lingerie from Victoria’s Secret so she could show it to Lauren afterwards during their sexy time? Did Lauren not know that the younger girl took sensual dancing lessons in order for her to spice things up a little bit for that particular night? For god’s sake, she almost sprained her ankle and for some reason almost break her neck because she was trying so hard to learn how to give a lap dance. But no, Lauren just have to break up with her.

Camila’s throat tightens. Like the ones where you try not to cry, so you try so hard to hold back a sob.

“W-what?” she managed to choke out after a few moment.

“I don’t want you to be my girlfriend anymore.” The older girl repeats.

And for the love that’s all holy, why was Lauren so thick? Camila was asking her rhetorically. She didn’t actually want to hear those awful words again. Because now she feels like someone has dumped a very cold water – that came from the arctic – down her whole body.  The news just smacks her hard on the face.

A lone tear managed to escape Camila’s eye, “What do you mean you don’t want me to be your girlfriend anymore?” she demanded an answer as if her (ex) girlfriend’s words weren’t clear enough.

Lauren takes a step forward towards Camila, “Hey no, why are you crying?” she genuinely asked, her eyes slightly furrowed.

The younger girl took a step back and laughed humorlessly, “You are such a piece of work.” Camila’s sadness now turned to anger. “Why am I crying?!! Lauren, you just said you wanted to break up with me!” she shouted taking the older girl by surprise.

The emerald hues were now showing confusion, “Camilla, I—-”

Camila cut Lauren off, signaling her to stay in place. She took a deep breath to compose herself, “Can I at least know why you’re breaking up with me? Because I’m pretty sure we were doing fine these couple of months. I mean sure we fight but we manage to talk things through. Where did I go wrong, Lauren? Because I’m pretty sure I tell and show you every day how much I love you. Was it because you finally found out that it was me who kept on losing your socks while doing the laundry? Or that you found someone else better than me?! God Lauren, please just tell me where I went wrong?” the younger girl exclaimed in one breathe. She needed an explanation before “unintentionally” sucker-punching Lauren in the process. What she’s feeling right now doesn’t even compare to any physical pain known to human kind.

A smile formed on Lauren’s pretty face and god Camila really want to wipe that off of her.

“Babe, I didn’t say I want to break up with you.” Lauren replied, and that sure took Camila’s breath away.

The younger girl furiously wiped her tears, “You…you just said—-”

Lauren took a step forward again, holding Camila’s right hand. “I said, I didn’t want you to be my girlfriend anymore. Because I want you to be my wife.”

Camila was sure she’s probably getting a heart attack right now. She sees Lauren bend down on one knee, with adoration radiating off her beautiful green eyes. Camila was just staring at the older girl like she grew another head. Cause wow she did not expect this to happen at all.

“Karla Camila Cabello Estrabao, will you do me the honor of becoming my better half?” Lauren asked the girl expectantly.

And since Camila’s brain was in an overdrive, causing her to not think of forming any coherent string of words. She dove right on top of Lauren, nodding her head furiously, tears of joy falling from her brown eyes.

Lauren let out a chuckle, “I guess that’s a ‘yes’ then.” And hugged her now fiancé tightly.

After a few minutes of just lying on the floor, Lauren and Camila finally came down from the pure bliss they were feeling. They both sat up, Camila now admiring the diamond ring on her left hand.

The older girl let out a puff of air, making Camila look up, “So…it was you who kept on losing my socks.” She playfully accused, raising a brow.

Camila laughed lightly and kissed the other girl hard with passion. And yeah, maybe she thought that the day would end up as a disaster but boy was she so wrong, because now she was to become future Mrs. Jauregui. And everything felt right in the end. Everything was perfect.
