"And you just left?" Torri asked, her coffee cup paused halfway to her mouth.
"What else should I have done? He was clearly annoyed with it all, maybe he'll go home for good." Halldora replied.
"Dora, you're kidding," Tristan frowned. "It wasn't that big a fight, he'll get over it. You should be now, you're just drawing it out so you can feel annoyed."
"Tristan, don't." Halldora scowled.
"No Dora, he's right," Torri said, "Loki adores you. He wouldn't just up and leave after a minor tiff."
"Uhuh," Halldora scoffed, "You don't know him like I do."
"Really? Because I'm pretty sure he was the one you spent Halloween with," Torri said.
"And he's the guy who's been living with you for months, the guy that you didn't even tell us about until Torri caught you two at the shops." Tristan added.
"Yeah well, he's not that important," Halldora muttered, but even she was starting to doubt herself.
"Dora, pull yourself together before I beat you over the head with Tristan's man bag," Torri scolded her.
"Hey!" Tristan said. Both the girls looked at him and he faltered, "It's not a man bag." he muttered.
"Uhuh, and Edna Mode isn't the best thing to happen to fashion since Cruella De Ville," Torri quipped. She looked back at Halldora, watching her closely.
"Dora, you might know Loki better than we do-,"
"In more ways than one," Tristan interrupted.
"But we know you better than that, and we know you don't really want Loki to leave." Torri said, "Now you better hop off back to your apartment before he does disappear, or I'll woo him myself." She sat back in her chair with her arms crossed.
"Don't you dare," Halldora and Tristan said at the same time. They looked at each other curiously before Tristan added.
"I mean, I'd try to woo him too, but at least I didn't say it."
Halldora rolled her eyes at the two of them, grabbing her handbag and making to leave. "Alright, but if you don't hear from me in the next 48 hours I want you to burn my ashes and throw it in the faces of idiots. Agreed?"
"Aye aye captain!" Torri saluted her.
"Yes ma'am," Tristan said, following Torri's movement.
Halldora laughed at them but she didn't stick around much longer. She began walking back to her apartment, wondering what she was going to say, whether Loki was still there at all, what she'd do if they had another fight. She shook her head and kept going. It was her birthday after all, if she was going to die she'd go out like she came into this life, screaming and kicking.
~~~
Halldora struggled with her keys in the lock, finally turning the knob and banging the door open in frustration. She stopped, watching in surprise as Loki stood up straight from where he'd been hunched over.
