Loki cursed himself as he stomped down the street, not caring that people were turned towards him. How dare he? How dare he hurt the only good thing in his life? He had wanted to be with her for months, and after two days he'd already lost her again? How dare he?
But it was his nature, was it not? It was his nature to ruin good things and upset the people he loved. How stupid! He kept storming past people, his rage blinding him from where he was going and what people might think of him. "How stupid!" He yelled aloud to himself, kicking the brick wall of a building before quickly holding his foot in pain. He growled. At least he could punish himself for what he'd done. He should have apologised more, he should have told her he- he couldn't say it, not even think it.
A man suddenly approached him. "Tough day man?" He asked. Loki turned to the man. He was wearing a light blue shirt with the sleeves rolled up his arms and a brown leather apron.
"I hurt her," Loki muttered, confessing to the stranger.
"Did you hit her?" The man asked.
"No, I would never. But I, I made her think I didn't care for her, and now she's kicked me out," he said, opening up more than he'd ever done to a stranger. The man nodded, sympathising with him.
"Well, as long as you didn't hit her, you can take these," he said, handing Loki a bouquet of fresh flowers. Red roses in particular. "I didn't sell them today, I was going to take them home with me but I think you need them more than i do," the man said, motioning to the store he had come out of. Loki realised the man must have been a florist. And a good one too by the looks of the bouquet.
"I don't have any money," Loki began, but the man waved a hand at him.
"Don't worry about it," he said, smiling at Loki, "just go and apologise. I hope that things work out with you two.
And if they do you might come back some day, right?"Loki smiled, relieved that the man was being so kind to him. "Thank you. I will have to bring her with me next time," he promised.
"Sounds like a plan," the man nodded, motioning in the direction Loki had come. "Now go and get her back," he said encouragingly.
