*cassidys prospective*
I ran into the dining room, only to see a weak Molly being held in Bruce's big arms. I gave him a knowing smile. I knew he would take care if her. He has a soft spot for Molly and I'm not sure why. I saw my darling daughter crying. Her face in her hands sobbing. She made adorable noises when she cried. I bent down to her five year old level and rubbed her back.
"Shhh everything will be alright, Mommys here now." I cooed and smoothed down her hair and kissed the too of her head. She clung behind my leg as I stood up.
"Father what happened this time?" My voice had a hint of annoyance in it and he could tell. My mother who no matter how many beatings still looks up at him as though he was a god, scowled at me and Zavie. My father glared as well.
"Your stupid friend took a hit for zavie."
I smiled knowing she would make a great mom someday.
"What are you smiling at." My mom snorted at me.
I ignored her and turned to my father. "Why where you going to hit my child?"
"She disobeyed me."
Anger fumed through me.
"Well then you talk to me. I am the mother of her and I am the one that disoplines her not you." I glared at him. He said nothing but returned the glare.
Turning around I picked up zavie and kissed each tear away. Stroking her hair I turned on my heel and headed out the door. Before I was fully out my mother with her long straggly fingers grabbed my hair and yanked me backwards. The pain shot through my body but I was more focused on Zavie. I let her down.
"Run Zavie." She started to run but ran into Bruce. I looked at his face with pleading eyes. He understood and scooped zavie up.
After they where gone I turned around only to be hit with a hard punch to the bridge of my nose. Blood came out but I wasn't worried about that.
"Why do you do this to us? And why do you not love us? You treat us like we are your slaves. He beats you yet you still love him and neglect us. Why? Tell me why?" I yelled at them. My hands where covered in my own blood and where at my sides in closed fists.
"Ha! Because you deserve it! You don't deserve to be loved besides the god you pray to would never forgive you, you have done to much sin. First with the devil child." My father started his voice booming through the house.
Then my mother chimed in " and as for that, I know he just goofs up everyonce in a while and of course I still love him. I mean you wouldn't know because you where just a slut and committed adultery, then had a temptress for a child." My mother spat at me. Anger swarmed through my veins. Attacking every last commen sense I had left.
"First you insult my faith, then you insult my daughter and now you have insulted me. This is it." I said through clenched teeth. I swung my arm back and hit the witch in the face. She fell holding her nose and whimpered. Then I turned to my father and stomped on his foot, kneed him where the sun don't shine, and then kneed him in the face. He was unconscious in seconds.
I have waited to do that since the first beating I got. I walked to the back room and packed clothing and money in a backpack. Along with a gun and knife. Pulling my sweat shirt on I ran outside. Running into Bruce I smiled at him.
"I'm leaving." His eyes widened
"They'll find you."
"No they won't. I won't let it happen. Come with us and they won't hurt you please." I begged him
"I can't just leave."
"Why?"
"Because Cassidy this is our home. I grew up here."
"I did too but I learned to hate it, after getting my fiancé shot by my dad, beat day in and day out, and living with these secrets. Me and my daughter and your daughter can't love a life like this anymore, Bruce I'm leaving with the kids. I'm sorry but I have to." Tears fell down my cheeks and he embraced me in a hug. He handed me a knife. It was made from a buck horn and had his name carved in it. A buck skin was the holder for it.
"Have this to remeber me by."
"I'm taking your child how could I forget you." I smiled up at him and hugged him tighter. Once her pulled away he wiped my tears away and kissed the top of my head.
"Goodbye." I smiled and returned the saying. I walked to the basement and opened it.
"Zavie and Nala get out here." Both scurried out and I went in and woke Molly up. I slapped her face gently until her eyes fluttered open.
"Common we are leaving."
She nodded and I got up and walked out.
