Vanessa's POV:

I strolled through the town leisurely, glancing casually into the windows of busy shops. Quinn was out today setting things up with her business associates here in Maryland so I decided to roam around our new town. It was a really homey place where people said hi or smiled at you as they passed by you in the street. Definitely a different pace than Miami. I continued on my walk when a cute little flower shop on the corner of a four-way intersection caught my eye.

It was a small shop but it was in no way weak in grabbing attention. The exterior was decorated with a wide array of vibrant, sweet smelling flowers that drew you in by your senses. The flowers were ranged in size, color, and even native location—some so exotic and foreign.

I walked eagerly over to the entrance of the shop and peaked into its interior. My eyes widened in awe as I gazed over the shelves full of exploding colors and lively flowers. I was lured in by its warm essence and the flawless, honey sweet scents that flowed with the breeze. I was immediately drawn to the roses section of the shop and started questioning myself with what I thought Quinn would like the most.

"Hello miss, can I help you find anything?" A gentle voice spoke form behind me.

I turned to find a thin woman standing not too far behind me with a soft welcoming smile on her middle aged face.

"I'm just looking for now, thank you though." I smiled at her then turned back to the flowers.

"Okay. Let me know if I can help you with anything, sweetie." I could tell she was still smiling.

I pondered for a moment and admitted to myself, "Um...actually I think I do need your help."

"Alright let's get to work then." She smiled wider. "Who are the flowers for? Someone special?"

"Yes, someone very very special and dear to me." I smiled at the thought of her. "I know I want to get her roses but I don't know what color to choose, there are so many different shades and colors here."

She offered me a big genuine smile before taking my hands into her slightly shaky work worn ones, "We'll find the perfect ones, I promise."

"Thank you." I couldn't help but return that heartfelt smile.

"The first thing to know is that the colors of each rose has different meanings." She spoke and gestured to the assortment of roses. "For example, this orange rose represents desire, fascination, or enthusiasm. While this peach colored ones mean appreciation, 'closing the deal', 'let's get together', sincerity, or Gratitude." She glanced at me and smiled. "So it all depends on what message or feelings you're trying to convey. What message would you like to give your love?"

"Undying love, definitely." I spoke directly what came to mind. "Hmm sweetness, happiness, admiration, desire, attraction..." I stopped my self and glanced at her to find a slightly frazzled smile on her face. "Sorry...there's a lot I want to say to her."

"Her?" She raised an eyebrow.

"Yes...I'm a lesbian." I confirmed. "I-Is that going to be a problem?"

"No, not at all sweetie." She smiled and looked at the roses again. "These flowers don't care much for sexual orientation or gender, they just want to get the message of love across. And I'm here to help you find the unique message of love you want to express."

I couldn't help but smile at her sweet gesture and responded humbly, "Thank you."

"It seems like you have a lot of feelings. Why don't you describe her to me instead." She encouraged me. "What's your story with her?"
