All That Matters 2

ONE

"Guys breakfast!" I screamed loud to where they could hear me. Alot has happened in the past 10 years. Nadia is 12 and she's almost a teenager, I feel so old. Our daughter Remy is 10. We always liked the name so that's what we decided on. Jay was still a cop but I was a stay at home mom most of the time while the girls were at school I would clean. We gave Nadia a phone this year but now I'm starting to think that was a mistake. The girls ran down the stairs and sat at the island but Nadia wouldn't look away from her phone.

"What's so interesting on that phone Nadi?" Remy asks.

"Shut up its none of your business."

"Hey! Dont be mean. Nadia I've told you no phones while your eating." I say as she turns the phone off. Then Jay comes down the stairs.

"Morning." He says kissing my cheek.

"Sleeping beauty much?" I say kissing him back as the girls give us disgusted looks.

"You are guys are nasty." Remy says smiling at us and we smile back.
We hear a honk and that means its the bus. Nadia rushes out and grabs her phone and Remy follows slowly behind her.

"Bye mom and dad see ya tonight."

"Bye Rem, bye Nadia." But Nadia didn't say anything. 

For the most part our girls got along and they were close. But sometimes I just couldn't keep them away from each others necks. Nadia was almost a teenager and Remy was 10 so I hated it when Nadia would exclude Remy but I guess that's what happens. Jay gives me that guilty look and its probably about the girls.

"What?" I say grabbing more coffee.

"I don't know maybe- maybe we should give Remy a phone." He said nervously.

I start laughing and smiling and reply "You're funny."

"Erin I know that she's 10 but when Nadia is on the phone all day its like Remy has nothing." He said putting on his shoes.

"We agreed that when they were 12 they could get a phone, thats always gonna be what happens. Okay?"

"I hear ya. I gotta go so I will see you when I get off alright?" I kissed him and said goodbye.

I forgot to mention something, we had two kids but we were about to have 3, I was pregnant....again. I was 2 months, and we were finding out the gender next month. People said we were like baby making machines but this was only our 3rd kid. Me and Jay couldn't be happier. Our daughters, and everything else we had was perfect. We never had told Nadia what happened to her, but I planned to tell her soon she was getting older, her parents are cops and so she knew, about rapes and murders and I think its finally time to know what happened 12 years ago. I would tell her tonight.
