FIFTEEN

A few days later...

The girls had no idea about the problems me and Jay were having, he would work, take a shower and then ignore me. He was sleeping on the couch now and it was lonely. I would roll over to his side and feel nothing near me. He wasn't there and I hated it. But the thing I hated the most was keeping it from my kids.

"Mom?"

"Moooom?"

I was in the kitchen and I heard the girls screaming my name but I felt like I couldn't answer.

"Hello Earth to mother! Are you a-live?"

"Mom!"

Then I came back to reality.

"Yeah?" I said looking to them.

"Are you okay?" Nadia asks setting her phone down, as Remy came down the stairs.

"Yeah I'm--"

"Dad isn't in the shower." Remy says sitting next to Nadia.

"So what?" Nadia says looking towards her phone.

"Its 10 and dad always is in the shower from 9:50 to 10:05."

"Hmmm glad you know your math Remy." Nadia says laughing.

I sigh and smile "Why-why do you have a schedule of when your dad takes--"

"I have schedules of everything." Remy says seriously as I nod my head.

"Dork." Nadia says and Remy ignores it.

"Your dad had to take an early shower and work early."

"Sureee." Remy says nodding her head sarcastically. 

The bus honked and Remy ran out fast not saying her normal goodbyes.

"Mom, I know something is happening and I'm gonna find out what."

"Okay bye Nadi!" I say as she walks toward the door looking st her phone.

"Whatever." She says and I laugh.

They suspected something, I knew that but I didn't even know what was happening with Jay and me. I headed to work soon after the girls left for school.

"This is Billy James hes a college exchange student, 20 he goes close around here, he has to parents that he got emancipated from, and a girlfriend who is off and on, looks like he was stabbed with a knife." Jay said not making eye contact with me once.

"We can check out the girlfriend see what her crap is all about." I say sitting on my desk looking at Hank.

"Alright I will have Antonio and you hit it but I need to talk to you my office now." Hank said looking at me and going into his office.

He motioned for me to close the door and sit down but i wanted to stand. "You wanna tell me why Halstead rushed in here yesterday asking for change of partners?"

"He did. Did he?" I said putting my head down.

"Yeah he did Erin so what is going on?"

"Kelly Severide kissed me a few weeks ago i.. eventually told Jay about it and he got angry because I had told him before nothing happened sp now everytjing is a big mess and i mean we were fighting before all this happened."

"Erin you gotta tell me, are you two getting a divorce?"

"I don't know. I dont know Hank." I said starting to cry.

He sent me out and then me and Antonio went to talk to the girlfriend of the victim. We talked to her and she told us she hadn't heard from Billy in weeks. But she said she knew someone who was threatening him. We pinged his phone and when we got to the location it was a big wharehouse, it looked extremely creepy.
