TWENTY ONE

"So how long have you two been married?" She asked us.

I didn't answer, I didn't want to do this but we had to.

"Um 11 years."

"Okay and tell me how did you two meet."

"Um work we were partners."

"Okay so do you guys just have those 2 kids over there?" She asked looking at the girls

"Yeah those two right there."

"Erin can you tell me when this started and why you started to fight?"

"I dont know why don't you ask him?" I said angrily looking to Jay.

"Things just got rough and when we lost our 3rd kid it made things worse."

"Okay this seperation is something you want to do?"

"Yes." Jay said looking at me.

"Okay and how long should I put down?"

"Um I don't--" Jay said.

"Mrs Halstead?"

"A while."

The marrige counselor left and then Jay got up. And I knew he would say something to me.

"What was that Erin? You barely said 2 words to her!"

"I'm sorry I'm thinking about my paralyzed kid and how much money this is gonna cost me my kid can't walk!" I yelled.

"She's my kid too Erin!" He screamed at me.

"Yeah? Well you sure didn't act like it when you ran that red light!" I screamed.

He sighed and closed his eyes "Erin."

"Get out!" I screamed opening the door for him to leave. He started to walk out and then stopped and looked at me.

"You know what Erin?"

"What?" I yelled sarcastically.

"You can go screw yourself."

"Go to hell."

"You sure would like that wouldn't you?" Jay said walking out the door.

I slammed it as soon as he left and leaned against the door sighing heavily, I looked into the living room and saw the girls Remy in her wheelchair and Nadia sitting on the floor by her they were looking at me and started to cry. I ran upstairs and shut my door I ran to the bathroom and sobbed all night.

This was one of the worst days of my life.
