It was early at Vanessa's house, the birds were singing on her window and the sun was trying to get through the blinds, but the thick fabric was managing to keep dark inside her room.
Today, one month after the scape in the hospital, was her day off. She had a lot planned to her day, witch was basically watching movies, series and singing all day long, and maybe she would swim in her pool. But that was a maybe!
Her day started at 9:00, she took her time eating breakfast and watching some videos on YouTube. It had been so long since she had a proper time to do that on her life. Since she became the Chief, 2 years ago, her schedule was basically living at her work. In two years she hadn't had a time of, a day that she could miss family or anything. Two years went by without notice.
By, 10 am, Vanessa was putting on her bikini black top and her running pants with some Snickers. She grabbed her iPod and went out to run in the park just a few meters from her house. She enjoyed as the traffic was nice and slow, watched the kids running in the playground and that made her feel like she had missed a part of her life.
-Oh, how did the time went by so fast that I didn't realized I needed time to be human and actually have a life? - She exhaled and kept running till she stops at a famous bakery on the island to buy her Malassadas.
Vanessa's POV
-Can I have 10 of these Malassadas?
- I wish I had a body like that eating ten of these - said a familiar voice behind me
-Oh! I don't eat all of this daily, just when I have a day off - I said turning to face whoever talked to me laughing at my statement. - Steve! Nice to see you, looking good as always. But you could eat more and still look good .
-Young lady, this is called genes - he said flexing his arms at me and laughing
-Lucky us right? - I laughed
-Right (small laugh) so, you are on your day off? How long has it been since your super important ass doctor had a day off?
-Two years, this is my first day off in two years - I said looking down and giving a small smile and looking back again. - but, shouldn't you be chasing criminals at this time of the day? - i said looking to my wrist pretending I had a watch there making him laugh.
-Actually, today we didn't got a case, so it's like our free day - he said grabbing his order
-So, I guess this is it then.. - I said grabbing my order and stepping closer to him to give him a hug
-Yeah, see ya - he hugged me and we both left to separate ways.
As I opened my house door I stepped back immediately. Fear running through my veins. Just as I get her courage to step inside I saw more things thrown around. I couldn't believe my eyes. Just when I was about to grab my phone and call HPD I heard the click of a gun behind me.
-i wouldn't do that if I were you sweety
-Well, okay, easy, easy, what do you want? Did you get it already?
-Not actually, this was just fun, I'm not looking for some particular object of yours, did that just to scare you. I want you
I turned around to see him, that green eyes. I could never forget them.
-Should know it was you
-Yeah, you should Vanessa, yeah you should. - he put his gun at it's hostler - i came here to make you pay to what you did to me 22 years ago
-C'mon Christopher, I was fifteen and I don't apologise for breaking up with your crazy ass
-Choose your words carefully, I have a gun on me
-Yeah, but you won't use it, because I - i quickly attacked him, getting on top and holding his gun to him - I will use it on you if you open your damn mouth from now on.
-oh yeah?
I shot his hand
-Yeah - I said listening to his cry in pain - don't you challenge me, are you gonna keep talking? - he shook his head in fear.
-Great! - I grabbed my phone and called HPD. They got there in 5 minutes and took him to the hospital and took me to the precinct.
When I was signing the papers Amanda came running through the doors screaming my name
-Are you fine? Did he touch you?
-I'm good Mands, he is not though - I gave her a smile and she looked at me confused. - I shot his hand Mands
She looked at me shocked but proud
-That' s my girl, now let's get the hell out of here, you are coming to my house till they clear yours
-Okay, let's go, I wanna swim at your swimming pool anyways.
We left and when we got to her house she stopped the car with a worry look on her face
-What happened? - I asked her
-I don't know, that is Steve's truck, I'm just surprised is probably nothing serious, he loves to come and drink my licors
-Oh, okay
-Lets get inside, I hope you don't feel uncomfortable with him around
-No, not a chance, I'm fine with it.
-Okay then - she replied and we got out of the car and entered her big house.
-Wow, gotta say, I never saw it coming - Steve said holding his beer and looking at me
-Wow, that was nothing I can do way better - I blinked at him and went straight to the pool, taking off my Snickers and my pants and jumping into the pool.
