A beautiful Spring day, flowers are blooming, the wind is softly blowing, and butterflies are in constant flutter. It is a wonderful day out today. But still, some things are still missing. And one of those things was Kaneki, Hide's best friend. He knows that the CCG took him away, but there was nothing he could do. If only he had the balls to offer himself for Kaneki to eat, but it was too late. From what he heard, Kaneki was and is still alive. However, Hide does not feel quite ready yet to face his long-time pal. He still keeps relationships with his fellow investigators, but he can't help but still feel a little lonely. Hide shakes off his thoughts and continues walking. But is abruptly stopped by a bookstore, Kaneki's favorite bookstore. Hide looks around the bookstore from outside the glass window, and what he sees is a rather strong reminder of his absent friend, a new novel written by Kaneki's favorite author, Sen Takatsuki. Hide felt a bit of a void in his chest seeing it, but at the same time, it was comforting and he didn't know why. He's read one of her novels before, even has met her before, and yet he never got into reading more. Kaneki would never shut up about her writing. 'Why am I going to do this...?' He thought to himself as he walked inside the store. He picks out the book, and pays for it. This was strange to him, but he believed it was worth a shot.
Weeks and weeks of reading the novel, Hide has felt...quite better. Not just because it reminded him of Kaneki, but because the story was quite interesting. He had enjoyed reading it, and felt relaxed as well. However, after he had finished the novel, he couldn't stop himself from reading more of the author's works. Going out buying novel after novel. Dear Kafka, Monochrome Rainbow, The Black Goat's Egg, and so on. Hide has become officially hooked. Though still reading them, he has become an admirer of the author. How didn't he read her works earlier? He read one of her novels before, and loved it, but it bloomed into full on fandom. Her words spoke to him. The sorrows of her words, the joys of her words, it felt so incredible to him.
Hide has spent some of his free time reading, he spent free time with his colleagues, but he was...distracted... Akira has noticed, Amon has noticed, hell, even Seidou has noticed. But they never seem to bother him about it. It was his own business and that was fine.
It was finally Summer and Hide was sitting alone in his home. He had a day off from work to, so he didn't need to go out for that. So he decided to go on his phone to check out the latest news. Accidentally, he finds an article about a signing with Sen Takatsuki. Hide continues reading the article to find out exactly when and where the signing will be. And it so happens to be at the very bookstore that was "the favorite", and it will be next week. Though he felt a little uneasy about going, he felt like going. It was going to be the second time he met the woman, but he needed to make sure not to freak her out. He was very normal, but he has become a bigger fan, so he doesn't know how he will react to seeing her.
After waiting and waiting, today is finally the day. Hide doesn't really remember much of anything from the long week. Hide goes home from work and gets ready as soon as possible. He gets his book for Takatsuki to sign. He gives his home one more glance, and then he's out to the door.
Hide takes off his trusty headphones to glance up at the bookstore. He was there, he was going to meet Takatsuki again. If only Kaneki was there with him. The thought makes Hide a little sad, but he was glad to be there. He walked slowly into the store, in hopes that he wouldn't fall apart right there, due to both sorrow and excitement.
As Hide enters the bookstore, he is greeted by one of the employees. They ask him if he was there for signing, he confirmed that since he brought his book with him. They nod and let him be. Hide waits in the line with other people ahead of him. Some asked for pictures, some asked for advice, while others just simply wanted their books signed. Hide looked up ahead to get a better look at the author that had brought him to a world of reading and wonders. She had her hair in a French braid. She was also wearing a lovely aqua dress with a light blue jacket. She seemed well dressed, not like the last time they've met. She looked really pretty, but there must have been something behind that. When it came to Hide's turn, he has gotten very nervous. He walked up to her, and she greeted him with a smile. "Hello there!" Hide gives her his book. "Who is this going out to?" Last time she asked that question, he made it out to Kaneki, but this time it was going to be out for himself. "Hideyoshi Nagachika..." "Hideyoshi huh?" She signs the name. "With care, Sen Takatsuki... So Hideyoshi, kind of like the one that lead Japan at one point...?" Hide raises his shoulders. "I guess so? I don't really know..." She then glance up at him a little more. He seemed so familiar to her, but maybe she's just thinking things. But it doesn't hurt to make sure. "H-Have we...met before...?" He then nods. "Yeah, once before. But you've had a lot of fans see you that day, so I thought you wouldn't recognize me...at all." He smiles sheepishly. Then a lightbulb clicks in her head. "You're the guy that made it out for a Ken Kaneki?!" Hide flinches in shock. "You remember that...? I'm sorry, I made it to a friend of mine..." She lightly smiles. "Yeah, I figured..." She then continues. "You know...the conversation we had then, was quite interesting. One of the interesting things that happened that day really. What did you think of with this novel?" The question was strange for Hide, but it was good to give his honest opinion. "Well...a lot really. You see, I was dealing with a lot before I had read it. But when I discovered it, I felt something in me change, in a good way I mean. Your writing made me feel so involved, as if you put all of your emotions into it...I felt so much better. That it was okay to have feelings of sorrow and joy. If I'm going to be honest, I wasn't really much of a fan of your work before, despite..." Kaneki always telling him about it... "I know you probably hear a lot about this from fans, but I wanted to tell you, personally tell you. Your writing has changed my life in a sense. So thank you..." Takatsuki can't help but blush a little. She smiles, and responds with, "I'm glad that you could enjoy it!" Hide's face and chest starts to heat up. And is confused on why exactly. 'W-Why am I feeling like this...? She's just an author I admire. But I don't feel like ending things here. I want to know more about her. I want to be able to...' Hide would think to himself. But then a taller, older man comes up. Which could most likely be her manager. "Excuse me young man, we got to get things going." Hide becomes frazzled. "I-I'm sorry, I-!" But Takatsuki responds. "It's alright Shunji, he can stay a little while longer..." Hide blushes a soft pink. "It's alright, I just...wanted to get to know you better... I'm sorry, it sounds stupid now that I'm saying it..." Takatsuki seems to get it now. "You want to take me out on a date...?" Hide blushes a strong red color, then turns away. Where about fourteen eyes are looking at him. But before he leaves... "I know a pretty good cafe not so far from here. We can meet up there Tomorrow if you like..." He turns around to see the voice belonging to Takatsuki herself.
Hide stands there with slight shock. Did she really mean it? Hide can feel the eyes watching, but he didn't care. "Yeah...tomorrow sounds great..." Takatsuki smiles, showing her pearly whites. "Great, what time...?" Hide had work, so it had to be after work. But before he could say anything... "How about if you text and tell me?" How?! They don't have each other's numbers. "Oh! We should exchange numbers!" Says Takatsuki. So they do, and they test them out. They both laugh at each other's ring tones, but in a nice playful kind of way.
They look at each other, and both say bye at the exact same time, both calling jynx. "Well...see you tomorrow..." Says Sen. "Yeah...see ya..." Then he leaves without another word.
Hide couldn't believe it...he was going on a date with a girl. A very interesting girl at that. The girl that he could probably talk to for hours about important subjects, or even not so important subjects. Hide fell in love with an author. And they seem to be so much alike!
