I will protect you! (Ayato x Hinami)

'She will die because of you...' 'It's your own fault she was caught...' 'You're did a f**king bad job trying to protect your sister, what makes you believe you can protect her?' 'You're a worthless piece of s**t!' 'You f**king piece of trash!' 'You're weak.' 'You should die.' 'Hell, you're just like your father.' 'Feel like s**t yet?'

Ayato sits all alone in his room, all of those thoughts running through his head.

'Kaneki has done a better job protecting his loved ones.' 'It's your fault!' 'It's your fault!' 'It's your fault!' "Shut up, shut up! Go away! You're wrong! Go away! I'm not...weak! It wasn't... It wasn't..." 'It was your fault...' Ayato starts to tear up. These voices just recently came about, he didn't know why, or how, but he had to live with it. 'Oh, are you going to cry?' 'Pathetic.' 'Aw, is the baby going to cry?' 'And you judged her for crying!' "Shut up...! I'm not going to cry. You won't win." 'Then why are you crying now?' Ayato wipes his eyes to feel tears.

"F**k it, you win..." Then Ayato cries into his legs. He hugs them tighter. "...Maybe it was my fault..." 'Get a hold of yourself Ayato, you're not some crybaby! Wipe away those tears of yours!' Ayato thinks to himself. A voice he can recognise. 'Stay strong, you had before...' Ayato shakes away the tears and doubts. Though, those words still hurt.

A gentle knock is at the door. "Ayato, are you in there...?" It was Hinami! "Yeah, just wait a moment!" He continues wiping away his tears, and uses a water bottle to clear up his face. "Alright, come in!" Hinami slowly enters the room.

"Hey Ayato, I just wanted us to talk...sorry..." She's so cute. "No worries, I would love to talk with you!" She sits next to him on his bed. "So...do you-? Nevermind..." Hinami looks at Ayato in confusion. "What is it Ayato...?" "It's stupid and random, forget it." Hinami leans in. "What, what is it?!" She starts softly chuckling. "Alright... So do you...love Kaneki...?" As she was about to respond, he adds something else to it. "More than just family." Hinami blushes.

"Ayato, why do you have to ask that? Of course I love him, but more as family. He's like the older brother I've never had!" Ayato laughs. "What's so funny?" "I'm sorry, you're just so cute when you act like that..." Hinami blushes pink.

"Well...could we talk about something else...?" Ayato nods. "Sure, sure."

They go on to talk about pretty minor things. About their parents, about their training, about what their plans are. A lot of things to talk about. "You...you want to be an author?" He chuckles a bit. "Well, sure! Why not? I could use a template of my life for writing. And Eto was an author, so why can't I be...?" Ayato shrugs. "I don't know... Maybe it is worth a shot." "Well what do you wish to be, Ayato?" Ayato could only think of one word. "Free." Hinami looks at him.

"Free?"

"I want to be able to go anywhere, to be who I am without a single worry about what others would think of me. I want to use my Kagune whenever I want to use it!" Hinami simply smiles. "...Would it be alright if I was there to tag along...?" They keep eye contact for a good while.

"Of course you could tag along. Why do you need to ask? Why would you want to tag along?" Hinami looks down. "Well...I do need training; after all, I am not strong enough quite yet..." Ayato smiles.

"You're stronger than you even know." They both blush. "Sorry Hinami, I'm being a little too mushy again." Hinami shakes her head. "Not at all, in fact, I'm feeling a lot better thanks to you!" "Wait, were you upset about something...?" She nods. "A little, but I feel much better."

They continue talking. Talking about Touka, Kaneki, the events that have taken place, even Hinami's bird Hetere.

"Where is Hetere anyway?" He asks Hinami. "He's being cared for by Yomo and Touka I believe..." They go back to talking. Then, the subject of Aogiri popped up.

"I am glad to be out of there..." Hinami admits. "Yeah, me too... To be honest, I felt terrible for you being there. You had no other choice. But I'm glad we both left..." Even if it did mean that Hinami got captured by the CCG. They keep talking about it though. But Hinami gets a serious expression on her face.

"Ayato...thank you for going in and saving me..." Ayato blushes. "Well...Yomo, Touka, and Kaneki were there to save you too. Not just me." "But still, you were there for me when I was in Aogiri. I didn't want to kill people, so you killed them instead. You tried to act harsh on me, but I could see that you cared..." Ayato smiles, something is on his mind.

"Hinami...?" "Hmm?" "Do you see me as boyfriend material...?" She sits there quietly in confusion. "Uh, sure! Why not? You are very protective, and strict, but there is still kindness in you." "Than...what do you think of me as your boyfriend?" Hinami looks up at him, only to be pinned down to the bed by the male Ukaku ghoul.

"Ayato...what are you...?" He just looks down on her with a serious look in his eyes. "Ayato...this isn't funny..." He just keeps looking down on her, looking over her physical features. Hinami starts to blush a deep red, and squirms a bit under him. "Ayato, please..." He gets closer to her face, she closes her eyes to prepare for what she believed was a kiss.

But what she felt was unexpected. A slight tap on the top of her head. "Got you~!" He then gets off of her. "W-What?!" "I got you, it was a joke!" Hinami then starts to pout at him. "That wasn't funny! You know I feel...conflicted when it comes to those situations!" She covers her eyes in embarrassment. "The way you looked at me...!" "You were so cute and helpless like that..." He jokes.

"Ayato!" She hits him with a pillow. "I'm sorry... I guess you don't like that kind of humor than..." They both sigh. "Maybe you'll have to get me better next time..." Says Hinami. They both laugh. But then Ayato gets into a serious subject.

"If anyone else takes advantage of you like that...I will protect you...!" Hinami blushes a soft pink. "...Where did that come from?" "I'm...just saying." It's silent.

"Well...I hope to talk again sometime..." Hinami states as she leaves. Once she's gone, Ayato is alone again. "Yeah...I hope so too, Hinami." He lays on his bed, alone with his thoughts.

'It wasn't a joke, was it?' 'She's your everything, isn't she?' 'Stay strong, you need to protect her.' 'You should actually kiss her.' 'Be her everything...' Ayato hides in his pillow, and whispers, "Shut up..." As his face turns red. "Just a bunch of thoughts, Ayato... Just thoughts..."
