"You're seriously going for that curry?!" Amon asks with major
amounts of shock. She scoffs at him. "Why not? You know me, I love anything spicy!" Amon shrugs. "I guess, but the spicy levels say it's a level ten, the highest spice level!"Akira laughs at his silly demeanor. "Don't be silly Koutarou, I can handle it." Amon sighs. "You're right, I should believe you on that." Akira smiles softly. "But I do see your point...any regular human couldn't even handle this stuff." There was suddenly laughter between the two.
"What can I get for you two?" A waiter asks patiently. Amon speaks up. "Can you bring me the mild deer curry?" "Sure thing sir, and for you ma'am?" Akira smirks. "I'll have the volcanic death chicken curry." The waiter just gives Akira this look that just says 'do you have a death wish right now?' "You sure ma'am? Because people ended up having to order five glasses of milk, two ice packs, and seven glasses of ice cold water just to cool down..." Akira nods. "I'm sure. I wouldn't order it if I wasn't." The waiter shrugs. "Alright ma'am." "Oh, and I just want a simple glass of water to drink, thank you."
As the waiter leaves, Amon chuckles quietly. "Looks like I'm not the only one..." Akira chuckles. "I can't believe we're actually doing this... We're actually on a date." Amon smiles. "Yeah, we are."
There was a moment of silence, the kind of silence many would wish for. A silence that tells you 'it's alright, this is alright.'
Akira speaks up. "So...how was recovering?" "It was alright. They had me do a lot of physical therapy, they also had to check my mental health a lot." Akira chuckles. "Did it take a while? Was it hard?" Amon shrugs. "It wasn't that hard with physical therapy, and my mental health hasn't change, or so they say." Akira frowns.
"How about Takizawa?" "It has been a little harder for him. Both physically and mentally..." "Did he talk to you about it? I know he's getting help, but..." "What happened was life-changing for him. He seemed so terrified of so many things at the recovery center. He told me plenty, last I heard, they diagnosed him with PTSD..." Akira lowers her head. "I'm sorry... We're both pretty close to him, so this hurts for me too..."
Amon sighs. "Maybe we should just...be ourselves and enjoy each other's company for now. That's what he would want." Akira nods. "Agreed."
"Here you go folks, your orders." The waiter passes them their curry. "THIS is the volcanic death chicken curry, and this is the mild deer curry. Enjoy!" "We will, thank you." Responded Amon.
Both Amon and Akira clap hands, say thanks for the food, and started eating.
"How's your curry, Koutarou?" "Quite nice I must say. I'm actually a bit curious about yours, how is it?" Akira drinks a little water. "It has a little sting, but I feel like it's not enough..." "Not enough?!" Akira laughs. "What, you doubt me?" "N-No, I never even-!" Akira pats his shoulder ever so calmly.
"How about you give it a try?" Amon cringes from the question. "I don't think so...!" Akira chuckles. "That's right, you hate anything spicy. Remember when you told me about that during lunch we had?" "Sure I do." Akira smiles. "Then you brought up a story involving my dad..." Amon looks at her with uncertainty.
"I'm so glad you have stories like that with him in it. I'm happy he's left such an impression on you, it lets me know that a piece of him will always be alive..." Amon shifts in his seat. "There's you too, Akira! I'm glad he helped create you... !" There's a pause.
"Amon...am I allowed to say 'I love you'?" Amon scoffs. "Of course you are, why not?" Akira takes a deep breath. "It bothers me...is this really okay to do? I mean, we're both coworkers, is this allowed?" Amon holds her hand.
"Of course it is, there's no rule against it. And besides, weren't your parents coworkers too?" Akira looks down at the ground, she knew that, but...
"Yeah, but are we...am I rushing you?" Amon smiles. "You're not rushing me at all. In fact, I was afraid I was rushing you. And if you're not ready, we don't have to date..." Akira shakes her head. "You're too kind at times... I...I want to do this! I just need a little time, but I wanna keep dating."
