Odd circumstances (Human!Seidou x Kanae/Karren) -Runaway Ending

Seidou hurries his way to the cell of The Rose. 'I hope that this is the right thing to do...' Seidou worries deeply. 'What if...Karren has been using me...?' He shakes his head. 'Even if that was the case, it's too late to go back. Karren needs another chance in life...'

Seidou messes with the door for it to open up. Karren hears the commotion and turns around to see Seidou at the other side of the door. "Hey Karren..."

Suddenly, Karren runs and leaps onto Seidou, embracing him in a strong and tender hug. Seidou stands there gently placing his hands onto her upper back.

"I knew you would come... I trust you..." Karren says ever so softly. Seidou then tugs onto her gown embracing her in the hug as well, not wanting to let go.

Hide makes it there, witnessing the couple hold onto each other. Hide smirks. "Good job man..." He says quietly.

Hide slowly walks up to the two. "Hey...uh, sorry to interrupt, but uh..." Seidou looks over at Hide; he and Karren both let go of each other.

Seidou clears his throat. "Karren, this is the friend I was talking about. Hideyoshi Nagachika." Hide smiles while softly blushing. "Oh come on now Seidou..."

Karren smiles warmly. "Nice to meet you Nagachika, my name is Karren von Rosewald." Hide looks at Seidou in confusion. "...Karren?" Seidou nods. "That's her birth name."

Hide smiles, shrugging slightly. "That actually makes sense..."

Karren sighs. "Before we leave, I have to grab some things..." Karren runs back inside quickly to retrieve her things. She looks at the men, giving them an approving nod. "Ok, now I'm ready."

Time skip

The three of them crawl within the ventilation system, and they're out within no time.

Hide leaps out. Seidou looks at Karren, only to see her nervous. "Hey, it's okay, we'll get you out of here. I promise, you'll be free." Karren looks up at him. "Will we still be able to see each other after this?" Seidou becomes silent.

"Sei...?" "I don't know, we can talk about this later..." Karren holds onto Seidou's hand, not wishing to let go. They both leap out at the same time.

Hide sees them holding their hands. He smirks slyly. "A bit early for that stage, isn't it?"

Seidou clears his throat. "...Let's just get going..."

They all make it through the exit, Seidou looks straight at Karren. "Alright, you should be off now..." Karren bows. "Thank you so much, Sei!" As Karren walks away, Hide speaks with Seidou.

"Wait Seidou, aren't you going to ask her for her number or something?" Right before Seidou could say anything, Karren runs up to the young men.

"Sei, I forgot to ask you something!" The female began panting, then spoke. "Can we...still...see each other...?" Seidou suddenly froze. What would he say? What could he say?

Seidou clenched his fists tightly, then he looked at her sternly in the eyes. He takes a breath.

"...We can't..." Everything else became frozen, Hide and Karren stare at Seidou.

"W-What, why not...?" "Seidou...?"

Seidou stands stiff. "Karren, I love you, but...if we stay together...it could become a risk on both of our lives. They will somehow link us together and find you... Both of us could even die." Karren chuckles nervously.

"Sei, I wanna take the risk!" "No you don't, trust me. You're just saying that to make me feel better about this!" Karren shakes her head. "So that's it?! We become closer, you save me, and now you're dumping me?!" Seidou sighs.

"I don't want to see you hurt... Karren..." Seidou walks over to the female, holding both sides of her face with his hands. "Everyday of work before I met you, was so hard to deal with... I can't tell you how many times I would start believing that more and more people wanted me gone, and that even I wanted myself to be gone. But you...you came into my life. You gave me purpose, I felt like I can be myself around you, I felt safe. I owe you so much for it, and that's why...I'm giving you this chance to be free. So please, just take it."

Karren looks up at him, eyes full of wonder and curiosity. Seidou leans forward and gives a peck on the forehead.

Seidou backs away from her, smiling. "Create your own life... And who knows, maybe we'll meet again one day, even if we're already taken. Just hold on to those gifts I have given you."

Hide watches the pair as this goes on. He understood why Seidou was doing this, and he chose to respect it. 'Good work Seidou...'

Karren hugs Seidou tightly, whispering in his ear. "I'll never forget what you did for me, for that I owe you my life as well..." Karren pulls away and grabs her belongs, slowly walking away as Seidou and Hide watched.

Karren suddenly stops. "And Sei..." She turns around real quick. "Danke..." Karren smiles warmly at the male, Seidou waves goodbye. "Bitte..."

Soon after she left, Seidou goes back to his car, as Hide went off to join Kaneki.

Seidou just sits inside of his car, as the sudden idea that he will never see Karren again strikes to him. He begins sobbing quietly and softly, his forehead pressed against the steering wheel. He doesn't drive away until he accepts the fact for himself and stops crying.

Time skip

After three whole days, Seidou goes back to work. Houji welcomed him back.

Houji had to break the news to Seidou about 'The Rose' escaping, without being aware that he's the one that helped her escape. Of course Seidou himself had to act as if he was extremely distraught.

Seidou sits at his desk doing nothing but paperwork.

Seidou goes into despair remembering that he won't be going to cochlea to see Karren anymore, and he looks at the door, remembering that both Kaneki and Hide left CCG. He still had Amon and Akira, but would they understand how Seidou felt? Of course they wouldn't, how would they? Ghouls and humans should never mix, especially a relationship between a ghoul and an investigator.

Seidou sighs deeply, moving only his pen and placing his chin onto the palm of his hand. "Karren..."

"Hmm, did you say something Takizawa?" Asked Houji. Seidou shakes his head. "N-Nothing, nothing at all sir..."

Meanwhile, Karren was given a warm welcome back home. She was to be identified as male once again, but something about it didn't feel right at all.

Work for her wasn't going to be easy, and heart to heart talks were much harder. With many of the other servants worrying and asking about her.

Every time she tried getting manual labor done, she would start to doze off.

Trying to do dishes, she drops some from dozing off and trying to dry them. Garden work, she dozed off and chopped off an important part of a hedge. "...Maybe you should take a break Kanae." Suggested Matsumae. Karren decided to take her advice and do so.

As she was leaving the garden, she stopped to see some blue daisies. She sighs with great care. "Sei..."
