Note: I am aware that the ship is obviously cannon, like some of the other ships, I just really like this pairing. Hope you like it!
The room is mildly chilling, but the blankets are warm enough to make up for it. The bedroom is a little messy, but it'll be cleaned up later. The birds start to chirp due to the bright morning sun. But it was rather peaceful.
Kuzen Yoshimura slowly opens up his grey eyes to adapt to the sunlight beaming through the window. He shields his eyes a little with his left hand, but soon moves his hand away.
Suddenly he feels his lover, Ukina, shift on his right. She turns her body toward his right arm, still asleep. He softly kisses her forehead.
"...Morning..." He whispers. She wakes up gently, her eyes slowly open. She looks at him, and smiles.
"Morning..." She responds in a voice as soft as cotton or silk. Kuzen playfully nuzzles his nose to hers. She softly giggles in a tired voice. Then they just keep eye contact for about five minutes. This often happened every morning. It didn't seem that much, but many things were being said in moments like these. Just sweet silence mixed with sweet nothings.
Kuzen finally speaks up. "Alright, we should get the day going..." "Ok..." She responds with a softer smile. Kuzen gets up, and he reminds her. "Oh! Don't get up too fast, we wouldn't want your morning sickness to kick in." "I know, thank you though."
Ukina is just about three months pregnant with their unborn child. When she first found out, she was astonished! She didn't think a ghoul and a human could create offspring. But happiness far surpassed that thought. When she first told Kuzen about it, he had a similar reaction. It was thought impossible to ghouls. He was glad that they had created life together, however he knew that he had to tell her the harsh reality of the situation.
He expected tears, and they came. Informing her in why it was a complication. A human mother of a half breed wouldn't give the proper nutrients. And the ghoul mother of a half breed, would most likely absorb the infant before even birth. That was the biological function of it, unless they lucked out and end up with a mainly human child.
"So...it just needs nutrients, right...?" Those words froze Kuzen on the spot. And he knew, what she was planning to do. It was hard, but he needed to trust her in this. The survival of their unborn child depended on her with her decision.
She made a miracle happen.
But they never know what else could go wrong, so Kuzen would watch Ukina closely.
Ukina slowly gets up from their bed, holding her stomach. Kuzen gave her his arm for her to grab onto to, and she does. She's not necessarily 'big', but she was rather tired.
"Did you sleep alright?" "You ask that every morning Kuzen...!" She laughs. "I know, and I'll keep asking." "Oh my yes. It wasn't too hot nor was it too cold last night." "Good..." They make their way to the kitchen, and Ukina takes a seat at the table. While Kuzen makes her breakfast.
Apparently the fetus doesn't seem to mind human food too much, since Ukina rarely throws up after words, which should be a great sign. Though, Ukina still has to keep it balanced with the baby's main diet.
Kuzen gets his coffee ready, and starts preparing the pancakes. Though ever since the the discovery of the pregnancy, Ukina has been avoiding coffee all together, even though Kuzen has assured her that it was fine if she drank some. But the decision was made in her own, and that was fine.
Kuzen was making her homemade pancakes and orange juice. He was still pretty rusty when it came to cooking, but that's what practice was for. And he was glad Ukina was his taste tester. She was honest, and very helpful when it came to giving advice.
