Serenity and Endymion

Prologue 1: Memories

Setting: Japan, Tokyo
"Dialogue"
'Thoughts'
*Sounds/Actions*

"Usagi, why don't you hold these roses for mommy? Daddy will go check how she's doing, okay?"

Nodding my head, I tell daddy, "Okay, daddy."

He smiled and kissed my cheek, "That's my sweet angel."

After he said that, he walked to where the nurses led my mommy into. I looked around until I found an empty seat. Carrying the roses, I waited for my parents to come with my new baby brother.

'I can't wait until I meet Shingo! I'll be the best older sister in the world!'

*Crying, followed with hiccups*

Hearing someone cry made my heart hurt, 'Maybe I can make that person smile!'

I followed the sounds of the hiccups into a dark room. It was lit by a small night light.

'Scary, why is it so dark here?'

Gathering all my courage, I went inside the room to see an older boy crying on the hospital bed.

I walked up to him and held his hand. Just then, flashes of memories entered my head.

"Endymion" I whispered.

"Serenity" He whispered back.

I reached out to him as he moved to hug me.

'So warm. He hasn't changed at all; always loving me with his warmth and caring soul.'

"Endymion, why were you crying?"

"My best friend was the only one who stayed with me because he wanted to. My doctor, even the nurses, look at me with pity. But he's leaving forever and I don't know what to do. What should I say?"

I smile softly at him while caressing his cheek, "You've never been good with words. All you have to do is say 'thank you'. Besides, he's not your only friend anymore. I'm back and I won't leave your side."

He grabbed my hand gently and placed a small kiss on it, "My best friend, my love, my other half and my moonlight. Thank Goddess Selene, you've found me once more."

I giggled, "I will always find you, my love."

Just then, the clock rang, "It's midnight... Oh no! He's leaving soon!"

I quickly took out one of the red roses from my mother's rose banquet, "Give him this rose, as a gift of everlasting friendship."

He hugged me once more, "Thank you. Wait for me, I'll be back before you know it."

Taking the rose, he ran out of his room. I sat down on the bed, waiting for him just like he asked me to. After a few minutes, he came running back, "Sorry to make you wait."

I shook my head, "Don't worry about it. Now then, why don't you tell me about this best friend of yours."

He nodded his head, "Of course, however I wish to know my princess' new name first."

My eyes widened as I realized I haven't told him my new name, "Forgive me, I seem to have forgotten my manners in all this excitement. My name is Tsukino Usagi. I was born on June 30th. I am 4 years old and about to begin school this upcoming month."

"Usagi, meaning bunny, that's very cute. My name is Chiba Mamoru. I'm 6 years old and stuck in this hospital due to a car accident which I lost both my parents in. Due to not having any other relatives, I am being sent to an orphanage as soon as I am released from here."

"Mamoru... I'm sorry, I never knew."

"It's alright, I don't remember them."

I frown and hit his head with my fist as gently as I could, "Don't lie to me. I can tell; your heart is crying inside. It's mourning the loss of your family and the loss of your memories."
