Chapter 32: Usagi's Birthday (1)

Usagi POV

I look at my calendar, today is the day I've been waiting for! I quickly lock my door, close my curtains and summon the crystal. I feel guilty for using it so often but, I get stronger by using it more often. It's beneficial so, I try not to think too much about it.

Luna licks her paws while asking why I've summoned it, "Well today is my birthday. Assuming that Mamoru remembers, I'm getting my outfit ready."

"I'm sure he hasn't forgotten."

"I hope not, after all, we've been together for a long time."

That was how my morning conversation went. Yet here I am, looking at him in shock. Feeling disappointed, I quickly walk away.

"Usa! What's wrong?" He yells in panic while following me.

I decide not to answer him and, instead, flood our bond with sadness. I walk away clenching my fist, I want to slap him but I know I'd regret it later. So I walk to Rei's place.

Rei's POV

"What! Are you sure he forgot?"

"Yes, he did!"

"Can you please sit down, you're making me dizzy."

"Maybe he's pretending to not know, he might even have a surprise ready?"

"Rei, you know as well as I do, he's never planned surprises before."

"Prince Endymion used to visit you in secret." I argue back.

"That doesn't count! We had no choice back then."

"Did you at least tell him why you're angry?"

"All I did was flood my emotions into our bond. I thought he knew since he asked me out on a date. Then when I ask him what the plans was for today, he said he simply wanted to tell me that he's thinking of studying abroad!"

"Did he mention when and where?"

"University in the United States."

Usagi has always been carrying the burden of the future by herself. She always puts the team first, and gives us the freedom. Lately, she's been heading to the Moon alone often, and hasn't really updated us. If it wasn't for Luna and Queen Serenity, who have been telling us everything, we would all be in the dark.

She already has so many more important things to worry about, and Mamoru is making her worry about him! But on the other hand, I understand what he's feeling. I also want to live as a shrine priestess before Crystal Tokyo arrives. But that's in the future, we have a few years before we even think about University or future career paths.

I look at Usagi, she's stuck thinking to herself again. She must be worried about whether or not she's limiting us.

Mamoru may be her prince, and our future King but...as Usagi's friend and as Lady Mars, it's time I give him a warning.

Usagi's POV

I know that he's smart and, we have the right to start new careers in this life. But, can't we simply live in the current time. Does he have to think about the future so soon?

"gi...agi...SAGI!...USAGI!"

"Rei! My ear hurts, did you have to shout in them?"

"I've called your name four times! Just what are you thinking?"
