Chapter 29: Outer Ladies Arrive

Usagi POV

Over the past week, I've been visiting Mother on the Moon. I figured I might as well try to make a connection before any new enemies appear. But I haven't made any process, and it's infuriating.

"Serenity, you can't force the connection."

"Mother!" I quickly give her my greetings.

" How did you know I would be here?"

"Silly Princess, you are still my daughter, and I your mother. However as the Queen, I do have some advice."

She continued to tell me how she made a connection with the Moon. Making a connection doesn't require me to spend time at the heart of our kingdom. I didn't have to spend hours praying in the throne room, I just had to walk around remembering old memories. So that's what I did. I had to make a personal connection, on an emotional level.

I visited my room, remembering the hours I'd spend in it.

"Princess."

"Luna, do you remember? I was thirteen when I met Endymion, and when I turned fourteen he came here to me. I would spend hours deciding what I should wear."

"I remember it as if it was yesterday. You would comb your hair over a hundred times, making it sure it was perfect."

"I still do."

"Yes. We are luckily that our princess is not only beautiful but also strong, smart and independent. However, if I may be...selfish, please rely on us more."

I open my arms to Luna, and she happily jumps into them. I carry her as we take a walk around the kingdom. The place I would watch the Inner Ladies train, and spend time with their lovers. The Lake of Serenity was a perfect place to swim in the warmer weather, and where I would skate with Jupiter when it was frozen solid.

"This lake was named after my mother, yet the society on Earth call it something else." I whisper under my breath.

"Princess, is something the matter?"

"Luna, the Moon still hasn't recovered. It's been over a millennium since the battle."

"However, it has only been a few years since the Queen has returned."

"She doesn't have the crystal. Without it, it won't be long before she exhausts all her strength."

"It is the reason we have the others here. The four generals visit every other day to make sure the energy levels are stable, and to patrol the unhealed areas with her. Ann and Al are here to make sure there aren't any suspicious energies around the Moon and Earth. They're also working with the Tree of Life's bud to bring back the plants and flowers."

"I know, and I appreciate their help. I know that Diamond has his people with the security around Mother and her health. Everyone is working hard, yet I haven't done anything."

"Princess Serenity, if I may?"

"Sapphire! I didn't know you were here."

"Ah, I teleported here just now."

"But you still heard me just now?"

He nods his head, "May I speak my opinion on this matter?"

I nod my head. I doubt that whatever he says will help ease my mind.

"I have heard Queen Serenity talk about Lady Moon and her efforts in keeping the Earth safe. I believe that it is the Queen's wishes to help the princess by taking care of the Moon. On the other hand, I understand the feeling of wishing to take care of one's home planet."
