Calum stopped us in the middle of walking down the stairs. I paused with him, turning slowly with a confused face.

"We need to talk." He whispers quiet enough for me to hear. I stay quiet, listening carefully to the others only a couple feet from us. I hear the TV playing some video games, and Abby laughing. I turn once again to look at him, nodding and walking back up the stairs.

Calum follows closely behind, a hand placed on my lower back, leading me out the front door and by the chairs on the front patio.

I take a seat in the one, allowing Calum to walk past and take a seat in the other.

"It's cold." He points out. All I can do is nod. Calum and I have been basically ignoring this moment for over about a month, and I'm not sure I'm ready to have this talk.

"Please talk to me." He begs. I continue to stay silent. What am I supposed to talk about? How he broke up with me after only a night of me forgiving him? About how he lied when he said he loved me? About how he had the same girl over multiple times after our first argument?

"How's life been?" I choose to avoid all those topics, trying to  make this as easy as possible.

"Boring without you around."

"Oh." I mumble. He puts his head in one of his hands while he rubs the other one through his hair.

"I miss you." He quickly snaps.

"Calum-"

"No let me talk, I miss us like hell, Victoria. I know for a fact you're not gonna want to get back together, at least not right away, and I respect that. I just want you to hear me out. That day I broke it off between us, and you said that thing about homework or some shit, I regretted that as soon as you left. It knocked some sense into me though, I've been doing pretty good. A's and B's, occasional F's."

I laugh at his last statement, playing with my new necklace from him.

"I just need more time, Calum. You're right, I'm not ready to get back together, but I miss you too." I finally speak.

"I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'll fix this, I'll fix us." He finally stands up, letting out a hand and waiting for me to take it. I grab his hand, my heart beating faster at his touch. I pull myself up, my chest bumping into his but neither of us bothering to move.

"I really want to kiss you." He presses his forehead to mine, waiting for an 'ok.'

"I can't let you." I admit. If I break now, it'll send us downhill even harder than the last time. I need to give us time, and see if we can even handle being friends. I pull my head back from Calum's, and he looks at me with disappointment.

"I understand." He pauses to take a deep breath before continuing. "Want to get back inside? You're not wearing a jacket, you could get sick."

"You're lame."

Calum smiles and shrugs, pulling me beside him while walking back inside.

"I'm lame for you."

"That was the cheesiest thing you've ever said to me, back away before I vomit." I fake gag and Calum lets out a loud grunt.

"It was pretty lame wasn't it?"

"At least you're aware of your past mistakes."

I lead us downstairs, the smell of alcohol smacking me in the face as soon as I walk through the enterance.
