The next morning I wake up to the sound of my mum fumbling in her purse for her car keys.
"Dammit!" She loudly shouts, slamming her purse down on the kitchen counter in frustration.
I hesitate to get off the couch, my body too exhausted to want to move. Once I hear my mum have a cursing storm, I decide she may actually need my help.
"Mum, what the hell are you screaming about? It's..." I pause to check the time on my phone, clicking the home button that brings the screen to life. "8 in the morning."
"I can't find my keys, and I'm already late for work." She angrily replies and I can't help but laugh.
Pushing myself up from the couch, I fix my hair and head over to the nightstand on the side of the couch. Pulling open the drawer, my mum's car keys are sitting right in the drawer, where I expected them to be.
"Mum," I can't even finish my sentence before she yanks the keys out of my hand, kisses me on the cheek and rushes for the front door.
"Thank you, sweetie. I'll see you tonight, have a good da- Oh hello, Calum."
I stop in my spot and my head shoots for the front door.
A very tired Calum is standing in my doorway, smiling right at me as I return the favor.
He slowly makes his way towards me, running his hands through his hair a few times, I'm guessing to make it look less tangled. Once he's standing right in front of me, he pulls me into a big hug. Not one of those half-ass one-arm hugs, an actual tight hug, a genuine one.
"Why are you here so early?" I question. "Did you sleep?"
Calum shrugs, telling me he didn't get any sleep. He pushes past me, sitting on the couch and grabbing the remote from the coffee able in front of us.
"Who said you could watch TV? Who even allowed you to come over?" I sarcastically ask.
"I'm not leaving you alone today." He responds, not even looking up at me. A small smile peaks on my lips, happy that I have someone like him to help me today. Everyone else hasn't even texted to see if I was doing alright. Calum has gone all-out already and it's only 8 in the morning.
I take a seat beside him, propping my legs up on his knees and leaning back onto the arm of the couch. I watch as he flips through the channels, scrolling for nearly 5 minutes before switching our TV over to Netflix to search for other things.
"What's that one show you watched at my house that one day?" He asks while rubbing my knee.
"I've watched a lot of shows at your house, Calum." I giggle and he grunts.
"The one show about law's and order's and shit."
"Law and Order?" I question and burst out laughing.
"Shut up, I couldn't think of the name." He grins and searches the title on the TV.
"the law's and order's" I mock and he lightly smacks my knee.
"We get it, I'm stupid."
I stick my tongue out at him, still giggling from his lack of knowledge on this show.
"I didn't know you liked this show."
"I like anything you show me." He winks and I scoff and his sexually hinted statement.
