Ant's POV

The flickering light from a garden lamp filtered through the large patio door. Through the confusion of just opening my eyes that was the first indication I wasn't at my house.

It was still nighttime or perhaps very early- it was hard to tell. I looked around and memories of last night's tevents flooded back to me... at first I frowned, remembering the pain but then my mood lifted as I looked down to see tresses of light brown hair sticking up in all directions beside me. I couldn't resist the temptation any longer and brought my hand across my achey torso I run it through the soft velvety strands.

Declan was knelt beside me, his head resting on the sofa and his body slumped against bottom of it, which made me wonder how he'd got into that position in the first place.

As he began to stir I instantly retracted my hand. The sleepy Geordie looked up at me adorably and smiled, "Hey."

"Hey. What you doing on the floor?"

"Oh uh...You struck a fever in the night, I was trying to keep your temperature down." Jesus this kids a saint.

"Sorry... and thankyou."

"It's no problem." Dec looked down at his watch "Wow it's only 3:20am... wanna go upstairs to my bed? I don't wanna make another one up at the moment."

"That's quite forward of you." I joked and Dec choked in embarrassment his cheeks flushing a cute shade of red that matched the rosy block colour jumper he wore.

"I-I didn't mean like.. like t-that- I-I just"

He stuttered through his awkwardness and I felt bad. "Chill out kid I'm just messing with you." The relief was clear on his face and he looked shyly down at the floor before asking.

"So you wanna come up? It'll be more comfortable than the sofa"

"Alright" Much to my irritation i struggled to get up the stairs when my body was hit by a wave of exhaustion but not to my surprise, Declan wordlessly tucked himself under my arm and took some of my weight.

We both fell down into the bed, Dec probably feeling as tired as me after trying to lift my larger frame with his smaller one.

I looked at him questioningly when I feel him cuddled up to my side. "I'm cold." He mumbled shyly. The smaller boy didn't move away, just made himself comfy.

I grinned to myself, loving the gently contact more than I'd care to admit. No one had ever been like this around me, apart from my little sister Sara. It was this kind of affection I'd always craved but never deserved and I couldn't understand why Dec wasn't running for the hills already.

"Declan... why aren't you scared of me... like everyone else?"

He thought about it for a moment, looking up at me with innocent greeny-blue orbs.

"You're not very scary and I'm not like everyone else." He stated it as if it was pure fact of life and my heart lifted higher than it had in a long time. He snuggled back into my side sleepily and I felt like I was on cloud nine. Don't get comfortable Ant you know full well this can't last.

Dec's POV

My eyes protested to the light that shone through my open window, adding a slight bite to the air. I shivered a bit and reached out for the warm body I'd expected to find beside me. Jesus that makes it sound like we are a couple, Slow down Declan.
