Ant's POV

"So other than an altercation that landed you in hospital in your first month of being here, that is the only mark on your record Mr McPartlin. The panel have agreed to grant you parole." My heart lept from my chest.

I was leaving. I was finally free.

"Your parole will last the remainder of your 3 year sentence in which time you will be required to stay within the city limits and wear an ankle tag at all times. Exceptions of that rule will be explained to you come your release." Great three years wearing a bloody ankle tag thingy. "Congratulations Mr McPartlin you will be released from the prison on the coming Saturday."

"Wow... umm... thankyou." They nodded politely and began packing up their files. "Guard."

Billy walked into the room and pulled me up from the short, uncomfortable chair, before guiding me through the open door way of the large office.

We walked along the corridor for a bit before I stopped suddenly.

"Hey Ant? What's wrong? Didn't you get it?"

My mind was a mess, I was finally out. I was finally leaving this shit hole after 4 years. I couldn't go find my Mam and Sister, not with the electronic tagger, but I was closer than I was. I was going out into the real world. "I-I got it."

"Yes man!! That's what I'm talking about! well done buddy! Congratulations!" Billy patted me on the back and I smiled at him happily. Before, I hadn't wanted to let myself get my hopes up but now, thinking about it, I was excited; terrified but excited.

Something that was truly daunting though, was I needed to tell Dec. I couldn't help thinking he's gonna regret offering me a place to stay. He doesn't want me intruding, i can't call him. Not after everything I did. I'm just not gonna tell him. He'll be happier thinking I didn't get it.

"So you gonna tell your friend?"

"What?" Had he just read my mind?

"The guy that came to see you, gave you his number and all."

"Uh... no, I'm not."

"You're not?! He offered you a room didn't he?"

"How did you?! Oh...wait...yeah you were in the room."

"Yep. So where will you stay?"

I didn't reply, simply looked down at  my cuffed hands for a moment before continuing my journey in silence. Billy seemed to get the message and we kept walking. He dropped me off at my cell so that I could I sit alone with the bouncy ball Mr Donnelly had given me whilst Billy went to do his rounds.

"You ready to go 'Partlin?" The rustling emitted from me packing my old school rucksack stopped filling the small cell suddenly when I turned to face the kind face of Billy, stood on the other side of the bars.

The prison had given me back the few belongings I'd brought with me which basically consisted of a pair of tacky jeans; white T-shirt which fit a lot more snuggly around my muscles then it did when I was a lanky teen; pants and socks; my wallet; an old Nokia brick and most importantly my black denim jacket.

"Billy? You don't work weekends, what are you doing here?" I asked with an arched eyebrow. When I first came, Saturdays and Sunday's would be the most dangerous for me. Billy would spend the weekend with his kids. I'd spend the weekend trying to grow eyes in the back of my head.
