Dec's POV

Being sat in the hospital waiting room was torture. Anth was admitted 3 hours ago and still there was no word. I watched depressed, as countless patients and their family waited in prolonged pain for life changing news, it was enough to put anyone on edge.

My mind wasn't fully focused on them though, it was bombarded with images of Ant lying lifeless on the ground, the way his eyes rolled back in his head, the way the deep purple bruises stained his beautiful tanned skin.

Blinking away the tears I looked up hopefully as another Doctor entered the room... and bypassed me.

I looked down at my feet... wondering if Ant was alright or if he was struggling for his life right now, all alone.

My attention was drawn back to reality once again as a pair of combat boots stood opposite my school shoes. "How you doing Declan?"

My head shot up and I jumped into my Dads arms instantly, he held me tight, I couldn't fathom how Ant was surviving without this.

"Excuse me? Are you Anthony McPartlins family?" I instantly pulled out of my Dads embrace.

"I'm his friend."

"Is there a relative here that I can talk to?" I shook my head intently.

"No and no ones coming, I came here with him... please... tell me he's okay."

"Right, we've stabilised him but we had to clear his system of the alcohol to prevent any further damage. He has a couple of recently broken ribs aswell as some that are clearly older and haven't quite healed properly, we've bandage his torso up but it'll take time to heal fully... we'd like to keep him in for the night just to monitor his vitals and ensure that there is no complications with his head injury." The doctor paused for a breath and I waited for him to continue. "I also must bring attention to the laceration marks across the boys back and torso... The nature of his injuries aswell as his age have sparked concern and there will have to be a report filed for this event."

"I was the responding officer on the scene, the paperwork has been handled and there is an formal investigation being laughed into the boy's father."

"Very well, I'll send off the medical reports to you as soon as they come through."

"Thankyou." I looked from my father to the doctor and panicked as the latter began to turn away.

"Wait! Can I see him?"

"Declan it's late we should be going home." My father scolded but I wasn't having any of it.

"No! I need to see him... please Dad he's all alone, I just have to see if he's okay"

"Alright Okay." I turned to the doctor who told us to follow him. We made our way through the maze of white walls until we came along a more quiet corridor and he gesture to a door on our left. "He's just in there you won't have long because he needs to get some rest."

"Okay thankyou, for everything."

"No problem kiddo." The young doctor replied, smiling and ruffling my hair.

"Dad do you mind if I talk to Ant alone?"

"Aye but if he's up to it I'll take his statement while I'm here." Dad sat down on a near by chair as I entered the hospital room. My heart stopped for a moment as I took in how fragile Ant looked hooked up to various machines and bandaged. I thought he was asleep but he seemed to sense my presence and opened his eyes.
