Dec's POV
I looked back from where I was sat in t passenger seat at Ant to see his eyelids begin to weigh down with the exhaustion. I frowned at his stress lines and dark circles beneath his eyes on top of the pained expression in his handsome face.
I turned back around just as Stevie pulled up outside my house. Fishing out my keys, I didn't see a hand with bruised knuckles reach forward from the back seat and clamp down on Stephens shoulder until I'd turned back to his direction on I hearing Anthonys rough voice. "Don't get me wrong I appreciate you doing this and it won't be forgotten. But. If you tell anyone what happened here I will personally make your life a living hell. Got it?"
Stephen looked as tense as the atmosphere in the car. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding when a terrified Stevie nodded his head and Ant released him from his iron grip. As the dark haired boy started removing his battered body from the car, I sent Stephen an apologetic look as the taller boy rested his head against the stirring wheel, looking like he'd narrowly escaped the clutches of death.
After closing the car door, I slung Ant's arm around my shoulders and helped him to the house. "Was that really necessary?"
Ant just shrugged in reply as he got situated on one of the lower steps in my house. I looked at him with my hands on my hips and he gave me an almost bashful look. "We need to stop meeting each other like this." I stated. Ant's head shot up at that, but he didn't say anything. He looked worried for a moment, which didn't really make sense to me, but I brushed it aside and continued. "How are you feeling?"
"Sore..."
I nodded and waited through the moment of awkward silence until he spoke again, "What did they do with your history book then?"
I blushed looking down at my feet timidly, feeling like an idiot having to say it out loud... and even worse to a guy who'd probably never been picked on or laughed at in his life. "They put it on top of my locker, out of my reach. They think it's hilarious that I'm short... I can't help it though."
"And that you're a bit camp." He added out of the blue but I knew it wasn't meant to hurt. He had a playful glint in his eye.
I pouted, crossed my arms and put my foot down like a stroppy child, much to Ants amusement. "Am not!"
"Yes you are. You're gay right?"
I coughed awkwardly and look at his feet. "Yeah..." My playful mood sliding away instantly as the conversation got serious.
"Why are you still embarrassed about that?" Ant asked, grunting as he pulled himself to his full height and stood up, making me shrink further.
"Well it's not normally taken well by guys like..." I hesitated, not sure I knew how to word what I was going to say.
"Guys like what?" Ant asked. My cheeks blushed when he reached out and tilted my head up to level my green eyes with his blue ones. I could see the bruises forming on his face from that right hook the other boy dished out as well as the small splatters of blood on his shirt. Suddenly I realised what I meant before and explained.
