Kimberly's POV-
"Alright. I need everyone to turn in their final papers within the next several minutes. If you don't, it will be marked as late and you will get a zero on your final." I tell my students. Most of them nod.
I look over at the wall to check the time. Ten more minutes and this class is done. This is the last class I have today. And my last class for this school year.
It's a half day today. Along with it being the last day of school for the freshmen through juniors. Seniors were let out a couple weeks ago.
I face my laptop again and look at my emails. I have just about a thousand of them. Most of them are old and should be deleted. But I haven't gotten to doing so yet. A lot of them are shopping emails and school related emails. Emails that I should go through.
I sigh as I feel my phone buzz from within my jeans pockets. I pull my phone out and see a message from Rose from our teachers group chat.
Rose: reminder fellow teachers...7 at the bar, we need to celebrate the end of the year!
I smile and within the next couple of seconds, some coworkers respond. All in which are saying they're excited to let loose and party a little.
I'm going as well. Of course not by myself. Quinn is coming along. She's going to make sure I don't drink too much, especially since my tolerance still isn't that great.
The bell rings and just before my students can rush out the door, I hurry to tell them one more thing.
"Have a wonderful summer, can't wait to see you back in the fall." I try telling them at least. A handful of them respond. A couple approach me.
"Bye, Ms. Dawson, I'll miss you." a freshman tells me, she smiles brightly and I do the same.
"I'll miss you too. Now go and have a wonderful summer." I tell her. She opens her arms wide and I laugh as I give her a quick little hug.
A couple more students come up to me to say goodbye and give me hugs. I really do love my students. Once they're all gone, I let out a huge sigh in relief. No more students. No more assignments to grade, except for their final essays. But still. I'm so thrilled to start this vacation.
I smile as I start to put some things away in boxes. I've been doing a little organizing and straightening up these past couple of days. This way, I wouldn't be stuck doing it all at once. I'm already nearly done. I just have to finish a couple more boxes.
I put away some little posters I have hanging up on my walls and put the remaining books on the shelves in boxes. Just as I finish it, my door opens and Rose, along with a couple other teachers walk on in.
"Woohoo! No more teenagers!" Phil, aka Mr. Hans, a math teacher, says.
"I'm so glad to be done with those savages. Was it just me, or were they even more obnoxious this year?" Coach Murphy comments. We all laugh.
"I had one student who always fell asleep in class. I'm pretty sure there's drool stains on the desk now." Rose says as she shakes her head. We laugh at that too.
"Well. It's finally done." I add on. We all nod.
"Oh, do you need help carrying those to your car?" Coach Murphy, Henry, asks me. I nod my head immediately.
"That would be great."
Henry and Phil both help me to take the boxes to the car and load them in the trunk. Once they're all in, I say goodbye to everyone and let them know that I'll be at the bar at the meeting time. And that I'm bringing a friend.
