21. Additions

Logan's POV-

"I swear, you're sleeping on the couch for the rest of the week," Kim says in agony as she continues to push. She's been at it for a few minutes now since she got to 10 cm.

We got to the hospital a while ago. The sun wasn't even up yet when we arrived. Now it is and we're just moments away from officially becoming parents. But right now, all I really want...is to give my hand a break.

The second Kimberly went into labor, she's been squeezing the life out of my hand. But I guess I really shouldn't be complaining. She's only in this situation because I got her pregnant in the first place. Not like I regret getting her pregnant or anything. Just the opposite and I know she feels the same.

Or at least she did until this moment.

"Oh my god, just get it out of me already..." she groans as she holds down onto my hand again. I flinch but bite down the pain from her grip. She has it more rough than me right now.

"Ok! I see can see her head, you're almost there. Get ready for another big push..." Dr. Wiles instructs. Kim quickly nods and leans back to take a quick breather. I use this as an opportunity to place a kiss on her forehead. Her forehead's a little damp from all the work and effort she's putting into this, but she's almost there.

"Ok, ready?" they ask her. She only nods.

"Push!" they tell her.

Once again, she squeezes the life out of my hand.

Then...it happens.

A new sound fills the air. A sound that I immediately fall in love with. I quickly look over and see her little body as she cries and takes her first breath. I quickly look towards Kimberly and see her smiling with so much joy and complete exhaustion. It makes me smile even more.

Literally seconds later, a nurse gently places her on Kim's chest as she starts to calm down and relax. She's so tiny.

"Oh my god...Logan...she's really here..." Kimberly says as she looks up at me. I quickly nod my head and look back down towards our daughter.

Just as quickly as the nurse put her on Kim's chest, the same nurse reaches for her again and takes her away to clean her up and do some quick little tests to make sure she's just as healthy as she can be. While a couple of nurses are working with her, a couple others work with Kim to get her situated again.

"She's really here," I hear Kim say as she looks over towards where she is. A nurse is wrapping her up to keep her warm.

"Yeah...she really is...she's so beautiful," I say as I look back down towards Kim. We both smile even more.

"Ok. She's responding well and is as healthy as can be. Date of birth: March 31st, 2023 at 8:53 am, congratulations." one of the nurses says as she walks up to us with our baby in her arms.

"Ok, we're just going to transfer both of you to another room so you can recover comfortably. We're going to have both of you stay here for a couple days just to be certain that there's no complications from the childbirth and then you'll be free to go." she tells us. We both nod.

"Ok, I'm going to help you get in the wheelchair and we'll take you there. Wanna hold your beautiful daughter?" another nurse suggests. Kimberly immediately nods.

The nurse who was holding our baby walks on over and gives her over to us. A huge smile forms across Kim's face as she looks down at her sleeping face. I do the same.

Once we get to the room, Kim gets additional help with getting onto the hospital bed comfortably before she receives our baby again. I take my place right next to her on the bed and wrap my arm around her, bringing her closer to me and I look down towards our baby again. She really is tiny and so adorable.
