Logan's POV-
"Is she asleep?" I ask mom. She nods as she tries very hard to not make a whole lot of noise when she closes the door.
"Out like a light." she tells me. I nod as run my hands down my face.
"Heard anything from Kim yet?" she asks me. I shake my head.
"No. Still nothing. I mean, it's been a minute since she last went out with her friends, so I don't blame her for wanting to stay out late. I just wish she would respond to my texts and my calls," I mumble to myself.
It's getting near to be nine now. Chloe wanted to stay up so she can greet Kim when she got back, but since it was getting past her bedtime, she was yawning and when we suggested that she go to go sleep, she didn't hesitate for a second to agree. Mom carried her to her and dad's room and I guess that was that. I'm sure Kim will be back sooner or later so everything should be fine.
I just hope she's ok.
It's not like her to ignore my calls and texts.
I drag my feet down the stairs and sit down on the couch in the living room. I pull out my phone again and check the time.
"Geez. Stop looking like a lost child. Kim's an adult. She can do whatever she wants," I hear Jenny say from behind me. I turn around and see her walking up to me.
"Yeah? And what about you?" I ask her. She raises her eyebrow as she sits down next to me.
"What about me?"
"How's life treating you?" I ask her out of curiosity. I don't really talk to Jenny that much. Nothing personal or anything, we just both talk to one another that much.
She shrugs it off. "Pretty good if you ask me." she says, keeping it short. I decide to let it drop this time and just go with it.
For roughly the next 30 minutes or so, I continue to check the time and checking my messages and calls, just in case I somehow missed something.
Anything from Kim.
Then, it's like music to my ears when I hear the door knock. I try to calm myself as I head straight for the door and open it with a smile across my face. I guess I really did have nothing to worry about.
Of course, the second I see who's at the door, my smile fades as I look at Jack, Ellie, and Jace.
"Jack? Ellie? Jace? What's up? Is Kim with you?" I ask them. The three of them look towards one another and shake their heads.
"We need to talk. You should sit down," Jace suggests in his professional tone.
It took everyone by surprise when Jace completely changed what he was already working as to become a detective. But, if that was what he wanted to do...we didn't really have a say in it. So we just went with it.
"Ok..." I trail off as I move aside to let them in. I completely ditch the idea of sitting down and just stand in front of the door with them. They don't comment on it.
The first thing that stands out is Jack. Guy looks like he was just in a fight. And that he got his ass kicked pretty good.
"But first, you got any ice?" Jack asks me. I nod my head and head off to the kitchen.
"Logan, is Kim back?" mom asks me as I enter the kitchen. I look towards her and dad who are sitting at the kitchen table with a book for mom and a laptop and other paperwork for dad. I only shake my head as I go to get an icepack from the freezer.
