37. Memory

Logan's POV-

It's dark.

Cold and empty.

I look all around in all different directions...but I can't find anything or anyone. Are my eyes closed?

Am I asleep?

"Ryan, go get the doctor...she's starting to move around," a voice says.

Who's voice?

Who's Ryan?

A doctor?

I fight with my body as I try very desperately to open my eyes. But they feel extremely heavy. My arms feel heavy. My legs feel heavy. Everything feels heavy.

"Is she waking up?" a new voice says.

"It seems like it, doesn't it?" the same voice from before says.

I give it one more shot to open my eyes and...

It's bright.

Two men and a woman are all looking at me. Am I supposed to know them? If I am, I don't remember them at all. They don't even look familiar either. But they look like they know me. Either way, they look to be very happy to see me.

Where am I though?

"Hey there, it's about time you woke up...how are you feeling?" a guy in a white coat asks me. Is he the doctor?

"My body...feels...heavy..." I just barely get out.

What does my voice feel so raspy?

"That's to be expected. You've been asleep for a little over 3 years so you're bound to feel a little sluggish and be in and out of sleep for the next few days." he tells me. I can only look at him with a lot of confusion.

I've been asleep for 3 years?

What the hell happened?

I try to remember what could have happened, but as I do so...it causes a lot of pain and I immediately wince at how excruciating it is. The doctors notices it but appears that he doesn't think much of it.

"Anyway...I'm just going to do some tests to make sure everything looks alright and then I'll give you folks some time to catch up," he says before he checks my heart rate, blood pressure, and a couple other things.

He dismisses himself shortly afterwards, leaving me along with the other two people. A man and a woman. I'm still not sure if I'm supposed to know them or something.

"It's good to see that you're awake...um...I'm Maddie," the lady says with a small smile.

"I'm Ryan," the guy tells me next. I can only slowly nod my head.

"Do you know what your name is?" Maddie asks me.

My name...

My name is...

"Logan...Logan Hunter." I tell them. How I knew that, I have no idea. I'm just surprised it didn't cause me any unnecessary pain to try to remember it.

"So, you must have a lot of questions, huh?" the Maddie suggests as she moves her auburn hair aside.

"What happened?" I say, getting straight to the point.

Maddie and Ryan exchange a couple of looks with one another, communicating with each other through eye contact only. I'm about to ask my question, just in case they misheard me or something, but the guy speaks up before I can.
